Just a heads up guys, I made a thread in TATF for the World Series if you would like to use it. Will probably have a little traffic. That being said, if y’all want to stay hidden in your own hideout down here, I feel you.

This has been our place for ten years. I love this little hideout.

I don’t follow baseball as closely as the NFL. How well do we match up against Houston? I know enough that if we beat LA we should realistically have a chance but I also know Houston takes after the Patriots with their underhanded BS….

Every great story needs a villain. Houston is perfect in that role.

Our plucky protagonists are gonna kick ‘em in the junk with spiked cleats.

I can’t stop thinking of the game yesterday and how everyone felt. Rosario deserved the NLCS MVP and Matzek was the Game 6 MVP. One of the most satisfying wins I have ever experienced. Let’s go and win the whole thing.

Matzek had a movie ending type of performance there. He had Steve Blass Syndrome and was out of the league. Then, he did that.

There legitimately could be a Disney movie about this one day.

Doesn't everything just go through Fanatics? I ordered some stuff last night and it may not even ship till the 3rd WTH

Fanatics is the worst.  Since they took over most sports apparel has become boring, cookie cutter, and terrible quality.  I limit my purchases to some Nike products and mostly ‘47 brand.

That's what I buy too. I got the Nike brand WS dugout gear and a fitted with the logo.

We did last year. He got a new contract through 2024. I dont think he's the type to bolt though. He only left as Jays GM because they hired a president of operations instead of promoting him. Jays haven't had October success since he left. We gave Anthopolous all the titles. He's president and GM.

Not very deep in baseball. How good of a GM is he? Did he just get lucky this year?

Hes a great GM. He built Toronto into a winner and ended their playoff drought. After his displeasure with his higher ups in Toronto he went to the Dodgers FO and helped build that roster as a special assistant to the GM.

Do we write a “Thank you” note to John Coppolella?

He had is part, no doubt. But he was cracking under the strain even before the international stuff became known. It's going to burn us down the road, but in the short term going from Coppy and Hart to Anthopoulos was the best move that could have happened.

Aren't they nearing the end of those restrictions?

What's going to burn us down the road aside from that?

The restrictions are done. But there's a pretty sizable gap in the pipeline. You can see it the lower levels now. The drafts have been good, the cupboard won't be completely bare, but I'm worried its going to get like 2012-14 for awhile where you have a talented major league team but no way to get depth through either promotion or trading... which means hoping you get it right in free agency.

Series WPA:

1. Rosario 18.83%
2. Matzek 12.39%
3. Riley 10.61%
4. Minter 6.14%
5. Smith 6.07%
6. Smyly 1.85%
7. Anderson 1.34%
8. Pederson 0.78%
9. Morton 0.61%
10. Soler 0.33%

If you include Dodgers:
1. Rosario 18.83%
2. Matzek 12.39%
3. Riley 10.61%
4. Urias -10.40%
5. Buehler -9.02%
6. Minter 6.14%
7. Smith 6.07%
8. Treinen -2.50%
9. Smyly 1.85%
10. Jansen -1.82%

Only four Dodgers batters have positive WPA... Chris Taylor, Cody Bellinger, AJ Pollock... and Tony Gonsolin.

AA is looking good on that front so far.

Good major signings: Josh Donaldson, Charlie Morton, Travis d'Arnaud

Bad major signings: Marcell Ozuna, Cole Hamels

Somewhere in the middle: Will Smith, Chris Martin

Even when you know what you're doing, it can be a crapshoot. Smart teams use free agency to add spice to a roster, not build with with.
