Yeah I just saw the replay, I was going off of the comments. It was a HR. Ball bounced out of CF glove and went over the wall. Should have been reviewed

If anything, it was too much hustle by Riley trying to get back to first. It’s a dumb rule for a home run.

That why you hustle until it is determined that it was a HR. Just like football, you play until the whistle.

It was called a homerun on the field, eventually. The problem is the umpires waited forever to call it a homerun. By the time they did Duvall had passed Riley and he's automatically out. There's nothing to review there.

Did not show that he passed Riley on the replay on mlb.com. But not getting HR is on Duvall. He should know that you never pass up another base runner

It wasn't Duvall's fault. Duvall was circling the bases like it was a homerun because it was. Riley was running back to 1st thinking the ball was caught. Riley was the one that screwed up, not Duvall. But in those kind of situations it's the trailing runner that is always out. But on the broadcast they showed that the umpires never signal anything. It took Duvall standing between 1st and 2nd and talking with the 1st base umpire before they finally signaled something. But by that point it was too late. The ultimate blame lays with the umpires for not signaling anything.

As soon as it’s determined to be a home run, it should be a dead ball and that rule doesn’t apply.  Seems dated. Riley thought the centerfielder caught it and was heading back.  Because he thought Duvall was out, he probably didn’t think about passing him.  Seems like something MLB needs to fix.

It's a really stupid rule, but impressively stupid on homeruns.
