AUTiger7222
Man, looking at the Realmuto hit that dude playing RF for the Orioles has to make that catch. But why are you letting Realmuto beat you with Andrew Knapp on deck? Just dumb. But there's a reason the O's have lost over 100 games this year. Unknøwn
DOB was touching on that Freeman article from Yahoo. He said that's been the Braves culture since the early 90s. He added Pendleton started it and taught a young rookie named Chipper Jones the importance of your horses playing every single day and what that does to the opponents pitching staff to know you don't get a break. Chipper took that to heart and played just about every game before his body broke down in his 30s. Chipper then passed that on and Freeman took up the mantle as the team leader. DOB told a story of TP having so much back pain Chipper would have to take his shoes off for him cause he couldn't bend over but he kept playing. He also told a story of Chipper calling out JD Drew after 2 weeks into his one season in Atlanta. Drew was taking a couple of days off for soreness and that didn't sit well with Chipper so he called him out. Drew played every game the rest of the season and had the best year of his life. Chipper also called out a young Heyward according to DOB. So it really has been a culture thing in Atlanta for a long time now. jidady, AUTiger7222, Black Francis and 1 other

I never understood this - how can another man tell me what my pain level is, or my pain tolerance? I get being in the lineup as much as possible to render your services if you are healthy, but one reason some of these guys wind up in terrible shape after retiring in all the wear and tear on their bodies that could have been exacerbated by injuries they tried to play through. But eh, that's just me. AUTiger7222 and jidady

But eh, that's just me. They said Freeman never does it in a bullying way. They just do it as cutting up and having fun with it. They just lead by example and maybe make a job about it. Nobody is ever actually made to play hurt if the training staff says you can't. It just goes back to at this point in the season after all these months nobody is pain free. Everyone is tired and sore.
The Kingfish
The only other time in franchise history that uniform #74 was issued was to Blake Lalli during his very brief stint with the Braves in 2016.

Well, he had a -1.3 WAR in 94 games with KC. He's had a 1.0 WAR in half that (45 games) with us. He was pretty awful with KC. Even with the small sample size, the difference has been amazing.
