Philly being so bad on the road is going to hurt them. We are seeing it in their series with Arizona right now. I think that’s why we will ultimately win the division.

Even with all the issues and injuries the Braves have had they are still the most talented team in this division. It was always just a question of would they put it together in time to make a run. It looks like that answer is yes. The Mets are fading without deGrom, Lindor has been a disappointment. The Phillies are a very average team, nothing really great about them. The Braves can really run away with this thing if they play like they have been.

What's gonna make or break the NL East race is the Braves tough stretch they've got coming up. After the Baltimore series the Braves have it rough for a little bit.

  • Home - 2 vs. NY Yankees
  • Home - 3 vs. San Francisco
  • Road - 3 at LA Dodgers
  • Road - 4 at Colorado

If the Braves break even or even go above .500 in that stretch then I think they win the division. I think it's going to go right down to the wire and that 3 game series in Atlanta the last week of the season.

The problem with the Phillies is they've got the easiest remaining schedule in baseball. Yeah, that hasn't mattered against the Diamondbacks but they've only got 11 games left against teams above .500 and they've done really good against above .500 teams this year. 3 of those games against an over .500 team is against the Padres (this weekend) and they're fading fast.

The Braves must absolutely sweep the Orioles. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. The Orioles have lost 14 straight games (pending the outcome of today's game against the Rays). The Marlins were playing much better and the Braves just swept them like it was nothing. Braves need to not let up and take care of business against the Orioles. It's a good chance to exorcise some demons too. Camden Yards has been a house of horrors for the Braves over the years.

Josh Tomlin's last 3 appearances

5 1/3 IP, 15 H, 11 R, 11 ER, 3 HR, 0 BB, 6 SO, 18.56 ERA

.500/.484/.900 (1.384)

But in the words of Chip Caray "Tomlin just throws strikes. He's gonna make the hitter put it in play."

We have Tanner Roark in AAA that could be a veteran you can run into the ground in mop up. I have no idea why we would keep Tomlin now. They have even been using Roark as a multi inning RP at AAA.

Jesse Chavez is also just sitting there. He's not much better, but he could certainly fill that long-relief role.

The Mets Baez trade also was meh. Baez hasn’t been anything special the last few years. Been just another guy

We can definitely do it. I’m excited to see us against 3 teams that look like WS contenders

I’m confused. Earlier you said you weren’t concerned about the Rockies but now you have them in this tough stretch.

So if I create a Braves vs Off Day series thread do I still need to do one for the Baltimore series? The Braves will neither win nor lose that series therefore it’s a split and then its on to the next person right?

😎

Nope. You made your bed, now you’ve gotta lay in it.

Heard Bobby V on the radio this morning. He said the Mets are head and shoulders above the Braves and Phillies. He said the Braves WILL cool and the Mets will make their run.

🤣

After this 13 game stretch they have Nats and Fish for 2 weeks. Then they get NYY, STL, MIL, BOS, Phillies and Braves. Plus 1 more series against the Fish.

What he said was one of those things they do to cater to big market teams.

We watch NXT, too, and Ever-Rise had cracked me up so much that I followed them on YouTube. Watching them show up as 2.0 on Dynamite and be this entertaining has been extremely gratifying.

Honestly AEW just does it better right now. They did more for Malakai Black in 3 minutes than WWE did for him in 3 years.

That's before I became aware of how well they play at home and I wasn't considering the Braves at times spotty history in Colorado. It was also before I looked at the scheduled and realized the Braves Colorado series was on the tell end of that stretch against the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers. If it was an Arizona/Colorado trip or something like that I'd be less concerned. But 4 in Colorado on the heels of the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers makes that serious tougher IMO. That's 3 teams that have the ability to wreck a pitching staff and then Colorado can be a nightmare for pitchers at times. That is why I changed my opinion about that series.

We're halfway through August and Dansby has a .985 OPS for the month. Hes hitting .364/.394/.591. Thats after a .944 OPS in July when he hit .298/.348/.596

Dansby since May 19th is hitting .297/.344/.562 (.907).

I know folks talk about him having a bad June, and he did indeed have a bad June, but if you include the stretch of since May 19th until the end of June then it looks much better at .265/.318/.522 (.840).

It's like with Freddie Freeman. Everyone keeps focusing on June 9th or whatever date it is they're always showing on the Braves broadcast but turned around his season when he ended that 0-for-22 or whatever it was at the beginning of May. Freddie hit .300/.424/.557 (.981) in May. But no one talks about that. Since May 8th Freddie has hit .337/.424/.558 (.982).

He got going late June though. If you date from late June to now he has around a .950 OPS
