Braves @ Cardinals

For the A

Recommended Posts

I'm still pumped about this win. For the guys to rebound after the way the game started. This was a 2018-2020 Braves type win. Snitker managed the game perfectly and the offense did their job, Duvall included. Braves don't win without Duvall's homerun. So glad to eat crow about him.

Tonights starter Wade LeBlanc has a solid 3.15 ERA but he allows a ton of runners. In his 34.1 innings he's allowed 39 hits and 12 walks. His FIP is 5.14. He made two appearances out of the bullpen when the Cards were in Atlanta and allowed 2 H, 0 R in 3.1 innings.

Its been a weird ride for LeBlanc this year. Hes been released by the O's, Brewers and Rangers this season. Cards signed him in June.

As far as Duvall, I’m still meh.

So far he’s batting .167/.250/.333 in 5 games with us. Granted that’s not the worst he’s done for us. In 2018, he batted .132/.193/.151 in 33 games for us.

He just adds GG defense in LF and some pop to the bottom of the lineup. Pitchers aren't really afraid of a Heredia, Almonte bottom of a lineup. The pitcher knows with Duvall there he could take them deep with any swing. Just changes the dynamic a little bit. He'll get pushed down in the lineup, hopefully, next week when d'Arnaud returns. Hes a #4 OF but he helps us right now.

I understand the defensive allure. Heck of a player defensively. Offensively, I hope he improves, but I’m not counting on it.

I'll be happy if he hits .235-240 with 10-15 HR the rest of the year. Hes provided some runs and hes saved some in the OF. Thats who he was last season and everyone was mostly in agreement he had a good year.
