Looks like the pick will be Wake Forest RHP Ryan Cusick.

Nobody had this. Atlanta continues to be run the tightest info front office in the business.

Not surprised it's a college pitcher though. Braves have drafted a lot of college kids with high picks in recent years. Big change from mostly drafting nothing but high school kids in the BC/JS days.

Marlins and Tigers off to great starts in their draft. Prep catcher Joe Mack goes 31 to Miami, was ranked by some as a top-20 talent.

Texas RHP Ty Madden goes 32 to Detroit, and some had his as a Top 10 talent. Between Jobe and Madden, adding on to their already impressive stable of pitching prospects, Detroit's farm is insane now.

It seems Rocker fell because of money. Hes made it known he wants a big bonus. The belief is the Mets will have to give him top 5 money.

The 2019 draft was similar, Brett Baty fell to them at 12 due to money concerns despite being considered a top-5 talent. They basically had to punt most of the rest of the first 10 rounds to get get enough pool to pay for it.

They're putting their eggs in one basket, but if it hits, it'll hit big.

Fangraphs' Eric Longehagen re: Ryan Cusick:

Quote

Teams had Cusick placed in wildly variable spots on their boards, with some having him deep in the second round due to issues with his command. His stuff is inarguably nasty, among the best in the draft, especially his fastball. He’s a huge, athletic power arm with bullpen risk. Atlanta has been able to get young arms in their system to throw harder but haven’t been quite as successful at getting guys with big stuff to hone command. But the Braves are competitive and could push Cusick in a way that mimics the White Sox handling of Garrett Crochet, which means they may soon have an elite, homegrown relief piece here.
