The Falcons need to sign a veteran corner and a veteran safety.

I wish we could have got a decent pass rusher for Julio in the trade.. But taking draft pics leads me to believe they are going to take time to rebuild the team. We're just going to have to have patience a year or two and maybe make a run at the Lombardi in a few years.. Im fine with that honestly

Will the Falcons be on track to get some comp picks for the next draft?

Potentially for Keanu and Mack? Or does the signing of Harmon, Harris, and others will cancel those potential picks out?

As long as we can field a defense in the upper half of defenses this season, that'll be a HUGE move forward.  Funny how we've only had three top ten D's since #2 was drafted in 2008 and two of those were fielded in the Mike Smith era (2010 & 2012) back when we had Abe.

I could roll with what we got. I think Harmon, Grant, Harris, Moreau, and AJ can get it done, but definitely looking thin behind that. I'm hoping Sheff doesn't even make the team. That'll be an indicator that someone like Hall, Williams, Hawkins or Green have shown more ability than I'm actually expecting. We do have a CB or two that have also played safety if one of them can show enough talent to make the team.

Probably won't have more than 10 DBs on the final roster.

Any other defensive signings need to be on the Dline. 1. Edge. 2. NT.

We signed a couple NT types that may have some promise.

I do think we need another edge defender though.

It has been reported that we were interested in Houston, Poole, and Nelson.

Which any combo would be nice.

Bringing Poole back would be nice depth.

I have mentioned Melvin Ingram as someone that I would not mind taking a flier on...he had a really down year so he should be cheap and could be a good low risk high reward type player.

I think fans need to trust Dean Pees. If he says we don’t, we don’t. This isn’t come first time DC or some bald guy from Seattle who rode the coat tails of one of the most talented defenses of all time. I’m not really saying you don’t know what you’re talking ab I’m saying Pees does

I'm very concerned about the Falcons secondary. They have the Falcons ranked at 32 going into 2021. We need to sign a veteran corner and a veteran safety. The Falcons secondary is one injury away from being a disaster.

They rank the Cowboys to go to the Superbowl every year too

KOG I trust your opinion on defensive players, especially secondary guys. When all the others were loving up Rico's butt you were trying to tell folks he wasn't the answer and you were right. I don't know who Harmon and Harris are. Gonna have to do some digging.

I’ll second that.  That’s the biggest endorsement he’s ever given any of our defensive guys

No point in pullin’ on your panties too tight because of a PFF ranking. Falcons are missing some pieces, sure, but the coaching and scheme will help - and so will an offence that takes the running game and time of possession seriously.

two years ago we were pushing Sheffield like he was going to be an all pro. He will end up being CB4-5 on this team. Our corner situation is better than the national media is giving us credit for. Terrell will be better in year two and he was graded as positive last year. Moreau is an upgrade to last year. Oliver playing Nickel, has actually been decent, and I think he can continue to hold that position down. I also think Pee's stamp on the pass rush, will help the secondary. If Sheff gets back to his old form, and Hall or Williams steps up, we will be fine at CB.

On paper Safety looks a little scarier, but I am in the camp that Ritchie Grant is a baller and he will turn a presumed weakness into a strength.

We probably need a vet corner.

At safety they picked up two mid-tier guys and a second rounder.  That's a lot for an offseason.

At corner, we could use a mid tier vet, but they drafted two late rounders there so I'm curious what they're planning.

But, but ,but, there were no names.  We need broken down dregs now!!!

"There's a bunch of big name secondary guys that nobody wants that are still out there. Why aren't we signing them?" 😠

What REALLY pisses me off is I've been saying this for years only to get flamed and trolled while this position was the biggest weakness. Now that we look good for once, I'm sitting here looking like "why". We signed 2 legit players and drafted the best safety in the draft but we need more?

Let me answer it better. We don't need Hooker. He's an IR risk. That's the reason for this is the universal need to sign injury prone players like we always do. That familiarity and comfort from times past.

Edge? Yes. RB? Yes. Corner? Maybe. Safety? Not really unless it's a SS and not really in THIS system.

I dont put any weight in PFF predictions from last season. Harris and Harmon were available because they obviously weren't a scheme fit for their prior teams. If they were scouted by TF coaching staff and signed by the team, then it's clear that Pees see some potential in them. Yall are just some chicken heads sometimes listening to the pundits.
