Could we see Langeliers this year? I'm not talking because of injury, I mean a legit chance or will they keep him in AAA until 2022 when TDA leaves?

TDA signed a 2 year extension keeping him for ‘22 and ‘23. There’s also a club option for ‘24

Seems not very optimal with both Shea and William pretty close. Maybe they use Contreras in a trade idk.

He would know their status better than anybody else.

Also, I don't think most people appreciate what a difference it meant to have d'Arnaud on this (championship) team. We lost without him and won with him. There's no gray area here.

I agree and I'm not asking because I'm eager to replace him. I just hear great things about Langeliers and was more wondering if Contreras could be involved in a possible trade.

It's gonna be a weird off-season. I have no idea whether we'll act quickly with some signings and moves or wait to see how it all shakes out.

I mean, you can't even discount the possibility of a salary cap if MLB breaks the union. I don't think there's even a 10 percent chance of that, but it'll be so challenging to determine trade value right now.

Are any of these guys in the Top 50 or 100?

Any players the Braves might take a chance on in the rule 5 draft?

Not in the major league portion.

I would expect the Braves to make several minor league selections. Last year they got 2B Jalen Miller, OF Jacob Pearson, and RHP AJ Puckett that way, and they all served important depth roles in the mid-levels.

Thanks, learned something new today. Didn’t know there were separate Rule 5 drafts for MLB and Minors. Always thought it was 1 draft and that if a team selected a player they had to add them to the 40 man roster.

Yep, that's just the major league portion, and that's only for players that are eligible and also on the AAA roster.

The minor league portion is for players that are eligible but on AA or lower rosters. Most of the time it's just roster depth, but there have been a few to go on to have big league careers. There's no roster restrictions on a player drafted in the minor league portion.
