Cristian Pache has had a good 6 games in Gwinnet (albiet only 23 ABs, but encouraging)

.348/.348/.739 with an OPS of 1.087. Struck out 7 times in those ABs, but that's an improvement from where he was in the majors. Baby steps

Early reports were his swing is back where it should be. Hes been known to get too long in his swing for most of his career.

Demeritte is still just 26. Somebody needs to give him a bigger chance than he had with Detroit.

He was given nearly 200 PA in 2019 with them and only hit .225/.286/.343 (.630). 200 PA in a season is a decent sample size. He also wasn't very good defensively in RF for them.

I'm aware that he struggled at 24 in his first opportunity on a historically bad team. They won 47 games that year. There aren't a lot of players prepared for that sort of failure. I believe in Demeritte's bat.

He should definitely be given another shot somewhere. I just don't know that a good team is gonna give him much of a look.

How did his first start go?

Good, first action in months so he was naturally rusty. Still got out with 3 innings and just a solo HR as he only hit allowed. Id say it was encouraging. He did hang a few curves but thats probably just shaking off the rest. We'll get a better feel tomorrow when he faces AA hitters.

Also saw Spencer Strider in Rome on Friday. Struck out 12 in 6 IP. Allowed 1 H, 1 BB, 1 HR. Home plate umpire was awful, Strider had the guy who homered struck out twice but pitches were called balls. Completely dominating with a 96+ 4S FB that he can place over bat planes. He was interviewed by Fangrpahs, he said his breaking ball now is basically the hard slider/curve that Luke Jackson throws.

Made Bowling Green, possibly the best team in High-A, look like chumps. Rumor is he will make his next start in Mississippi.

This week's Farm Report and podcast. Kevin Karel, the voice of the Rome Braves, joins us on the podcast. A good time was had.

Also, Nolan Kingham and Bryce Elder have been promoted to AAA Gwinnett and AA Mississippi respectively. Kingham is currently riding a 27-inning scoreless streak. Both are starting tonight.
