Rock Thread

Recommended Posts

Where in the heck is this? You have a miscellaneous forum but no music threads visible? Treachery to the highest degree.

This thread is just the 'rock' genre.

That includes, but is not limited to-

-Hair Metal

-Punk/Emo Rock, and all subgenres

-Alternative

-Grunge

-Classic Rock

If this does well, I might make a series of threads off it, who knows?

Anyways, I'll start the debate that's sure to follow-

Who is the greatest rock band of all time?

Talent wise, IMO is Queen.

My personal favorite falls between The Offspring (who, by the way, just released their first album in 9 YEARS) and (old) Green Day (whose problem now is releasing too many albums and not quality music)

Interesting. I woke up with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers "You Got Lucky" in my head today. For some reason, it's playing on loop in my head so I guess I need to pull up the video for it. Curiously, it's not even in my top 10 Tom Petty songs. Still upset that he's gone.

Love + Hope + Sex + Dreams by the BoDeans is one of my favorite records of any genre. Produced by T-Bone Burnett, every song is singable and (for me, anyway) fun. Hard to believe it just turned 35 years old. I bought it when I was in college and have listened to it ever since. I probably haven't gone more than 6 months in the aughts without playing at least two or three songs.

Curiously, I only know of one other fan of this album.
