Umpires collected baseballs from Bauer's last start to send to MLB. They apparently had visible marks. MLB said this winter they would step up enforcement of doctoring the ball.

Dummy had to know they would target him because of all the stuff he said about it last year.

This is so true and JD way overhyped as the Rangers boy genius during his tenure. Truth is despite a few good moves Daniels lopsidedly made some really bad trades.  Now ex pitcher Young is GM, but Daniels is president/ceo of baseball operations. No way a failed GM should still have so much say in the Rangers organization.  The Rangers have effed up when they forced Nolan Ryan out of the organization and took on the new ownership (Davis and Simpson) that wasn't Mark Cuban.  These owners have been filling the roster with retrads since their glory days and not spending at all, thus putting a horrible product on the field... sorry, frustrated longtime Senators/Rangers fan

I'm pretty sure Daniels is pretty much the owner of the Rangers. I think the ownership handed him total control of the organization and all they do is provide money.

Well Mark Cuban's efforts to buy an MLB team were blocked. I can't remember if there was ever a reason given but I do remember he's tried several times over the years to buy an MLB team and he keeps getting denied. I don't know why, I'd take him as Braves owner in a heartbeat.

But you're totally right about the way the Rangers have operated for several years now. All they do is sign guys that "were good once upon a time" and hope it holds together. Their player development system has been horrible. Who's the last homegrown Ranger to make a significant impact. I'm talking about drafted and developed by the Rangers. You can't say guys like Joey Gallo and Michael Young cause they weren't drafted by the Rangers. Do we have to go all the way back to the likes of Mark Teixeira and Hank Blalock? BTW, tomorrow is Tex's birthday. He'll be 41 years old.

He tried to buy the Cubs, Rangers and Dodgers but was quickly turned away. The overall word was hes too vocal and MLB doesn't want to deal with him. MLB likes its owners to be quiet and stay behind the scenes.

That's so ridiculous. They should see that he's done a really good job as Mavericks owner. His track record as an owner should be what matters. Not this stupid crap that "will the owner stay silent." There's lots of silent owners in baseball that are terrible owners because they refuse to invest in their team. The way the Pirates operate just blows my mind. They got one of the best ball parks in baseball and didn't make a lick of difference to the amount of money they spent and invested in the team. They get a new owner and the same thing happens. They never spend any money and never have any success.

I've got a friend who covers Pittsburgh sports some. What the Pirates did is like a dagger to the soul of the entire city. People were soooo happy when Pittsburgh finally had a contender in 2015. Then, he systematically dismantled it with zero consequences.

American sports need relegation.

As an outsider I was happy for them. I was a kid when the Pirates were good in the late 80s/early 90s. So when they finally had those couple of years of making the playoffs I was genuinely happy for them and their fans because it was the first time that I had ever seen them have success.
