Falcons_Frenzy
I wish the NFL would do a lottery like the NBA does. Nothing worse than bad franchises being rewarded year, after year, after year, and making terrible decisions that keep them drafting top 5 for decades. fincavigia and Herr Doktor 1

Then, like in the movie "Draft Day" take someone else like Sewell and cause a chasm throughout the draft and Lawrence ends up at 7 (not likely).  The draft and all mocks are complete crapshoots. A team could offer Jax an entire draft plus and they could load up for a few years really cheap and be successful (also not likely). Kaptain Krazy
Thanks for this. The 3 teams mentioned most often as potential trade partners are DEN, WAS, and NE. None of those teams have an extra 1st or extra 2nd, only WAS has an extra 3rd. So either one of them is going to gut their early rounds draft (vacating their 2nd and 3rd rounds) or the trade is going to be more about ATL getting future picks (or perhaps current players, although that's the least likely outcome). VTCrunkler

I think if we was to shop the pick and try to pick up a pass rusher that Washington and Montez Sweat should be the target. There's minimal cap damage to either team and he's not the big dog on their team so they'd be more likely to part with him. Behind Chubb the Broncos have an old Von Miller and thats it really. Washington is further down in the 1st though. What would you think about this? Pick 4 to Washington for DE Montez Sweat, Pick 19 and pick 74? I said yesterday I think a trade down with the Panthers makes a lot of sense. I know it would be strange to trade with a division rival like that but I think it makes sense for both. Panthers get a QB and the Falcons at 8 are still in position to draft one of the elite talents in the draft.

Sweat has 16 sacks in his first two years in the league and is on an extremely cheap contract for two more years. If we can parlay pick 4 into Swear and Jaycee Horn or something like that it'd go a long way towards fixing the defense. Yes, we would miss out on elite talent, but elite offensive talent that we could use, but aren't dying for.

Thats a start with WFT but got to have the first next year also I would think? Im thinking us and Carolina do get together and serious outlandish proposals happen. With reality TV content these days, I find it hard to believe the NFL cant monetize the inside side of something like this. I know I would pay a premium to see how front offices shake out a scenario as such.

That would definitely go a long ways towards fixing the defense. I think I'm not concerned with dropping from 4 to 19 and the only additional pick we pick up is a 3rd. I really want an extra 1st or 2nd. I want more picks. That's important to me. But I would be thrilled with Sweat.

That'd be valuing Sweat as pick 15 which is pretty fair if not a little undervalued. We win that on the point value chart by that 3rd rounder. If we trade back for players, I can't see it being for any team's top defensive player(s). Chubb, Young, Chase (Sweat is borderline). We will want picks this year or multiple players that upgrade positions of need. I don't think anyone is giving up their best defensive stars, and the draft picks to replace them. NE is aggressive enough to pull off something, WFT is always doing something crazy and trying to create a splash, and Denver is sitting in a prime spot. Whoever moves up will have to be fine with taking any of Lance, Fields or Mac as their QB. We would take less from Denver than Carolina to trade back with them. I feel like NE is going to be the most aggressive. On the bright side, we have over a month to field calls and get a good understanding about who is offering what.
