But but but... Matt doesn't care enough to restructure his contract. /purple

Pretty sure most contracts cant be restructed automatically at front office's discretion.

And it'll be restructured again until it's extended and spread back out.

Tried explaining this about a million times but some of yall refuse to listen.

Okay so you extend MR2 and restructure again - the credit bill eventually comes due on restructured funds it never goes away.

The majority of us were right in Blank and co being late on firing Quinn when we thought it should have been done after 19. This will be the same way with Ryan if a QB isn't drafted soon. He had some games last season that were certainly cause for concern and yet some in this fanbase believe he's the same guy from 16.

This is a clear sign from the FO that Matt will be the starting QB for at least the next 2 years.

This makes it far less likely that we target a QB at 4.

Meh. It is to make him trade friendly. He will be gone the day after they draft QB at #4.

I would be quite surprised to learn that is true.  Contracts are binding agreements between parties.  No party is forced to say yes.

Matt Ryan's cap hit is now ranked 6th among QBs in the NFL for the 2021 season.

  1. Aaron Rodgers - $37.5M
  2. Russell Wilson - $32M
  3. Kirk Cousins - $31M
  4. Ryan Tannehill - $29.5M
  5. Jared Goff - $27.8M
  6. Matt Ryan - $26.9M
  7. Jimmy Garoppolo - $26.4M
  8. Ben Roethlisberger - $25.9M
  9. Carson Wentz - $25.4M
  10. Teddy Bridgewater - $22.9M

But, but, but.....Matt Ryan has the highest cap hit in the NFL and is keeping the Falcons from building a great team for 2021.

The cap hit in 2022 and 2023 are going to be just as bad as this year.

we can water it down by adding a voidable year and in 2023 the new money should be coming thru.

Ive never really been worried about the number... To me it was more about ... Dont touch this contract if you want to be removed from Matt.... If you restructure you are saying he is your guy for the next 2 or 3 years
