28-3 from the falcons perspective..

Recommended Posts

Man. Posts like this need to be banned. I mean I could understand if we lost in a more competitive way and it's posted but we absolutely got destroyed in the last part of this game when we were clearly the better team and it's the most embarrassing game in Falcons football history. Get rid of it!!

I watched the video last night. Didn’t post it here though. It’s been 4 years. It was admittedly painful to relive. But it does express the many mistakes made by the team. After watching it, and having it fresh in my mind, this is where I’d place the blame on the collapse:

1. By far, Dan Quinn. Refusing to adjust his man defense in the 2nd half that was clearly no longer working by a gassed defense. Not holding his OC accountable in situational football.

2. Kyle Shanahan. Refusing to call running plays in critical drives in both the 3rd and 4th quarter. He stayed aggressive and it horribly backfired. The video even points out a specific drive where the score is 28-9, and Shanahan calls 2 passing plays on 1st and 2nd down. Team goes 3 and out and literally only uses 2 minutes of clock after the defense had just surrendered a 14 play drive and were super gassed.

The rest in particular doesn’t have anywhere near close to the blame as the first 2 above. But, Ryan, Matthews, and Freeman all made critical errors. Ryan snapped the ball a few times with anywhere from 10-15 seconds still on the play clock. Matthews had 2 drive killing holding penalties in the 2nd half. Freeman whiffed on the block.

Overall, a total team collapse. But, Quinn and Shanahan are far and away the culprits.

And Shannahan proved he didn’t learn anything from that game when he lost in the same fashion to KC on the same stage

Coach Quinn inexperience as head coach and a defensive one at that. Didn't keep his sideline poised and should have made a Head coaches decision to run the ball. (Maybe the moment was to big.)

He needed to step on some toes. In this case it was shanny.

As a leader if you gotta go down. Go down on your on terms and you can live with the decision.

I was hurt not because we lost but because no matter what our player did or didn't do. Bad coaching decisions lost us the game more that the patriot won it.
