no single player wins super bowls.  Having a top tight end cant hurt.  Travis Kelce has been to two, Kittle took his team to one, Gronk has been a big part in several.

Kelce and Gronk has elite QBs throwing to them. Elite QBs will get you a Championship before a TE

No doubt that Ryan is QB next season. Let's say that by about mid season he's looking bad and it becomes clear that the team can't run him out there again in 2022. Then the QB that we passed on at #4 becomes a star.... that would be a drastic situation

Let's say ryan wins another mvp in the shannahan system, but we took a qb at 4....then what

Who I'd pick and who we should pick aren't necessarily one and the same. The reality is that most of the posters on this board are complete idiots when it comes to QB evaluation, myself included. That's why I say I could be satisfied with a QB if they take him because they're convinced he's the best choice, not because they feel that they need to draft a QB.

With that said, fully ignoring needs, I'd probably take Chase. He seriously might be the best player in this draft.

The reality with drafting in general and QBs in particular is that most NFL scouts are idiots too.

Just asking why. I like Lance better because he has the highest ceiling. He’s easily not even close to a finished product.

I like him as well, his very small body of work at a school that makes QBs look good just scares me.

To be fair there's something about all 3 of Fields/Wilson/Lance that scares me though. He'll drafting any QB that high scares me.

Qb of the future isn't playing until year 3 if mr stays healthy. Just in time for his contract to be negotiated or 5th yr option.

That's simply not accurate. If they draft a QB at #4, Ryan will be gone after this season. The new QB would get this year to hold a clipboard and learn and then become the starter in 2022. Whatever dead money has to be absorbed with Ryan moving on, they'll eat it and put their vision for the team into place regardless.

I don't see A.S. and T.F. pinning their long-term future in Atlanta on an aging, cap-destroying QB they have absolutely no ties too. Both men took this job with the stipulation they could move Matt Ryan if they had a plan to do so. Unless and until they restructure Matt's contract, I'm going to assume they were serious in getting that assurance and they are going to move on from him after this season.

If they plan on keeping him through 2022, then they will definitely show their hand by restructuring him and will definitely not be using that #4 on a QB.

So what is his dead cap in '22 something like 23 mil, or did I read that wrong? I think we would save like 14 or 16. We really expect the team to eat that amount for someone who's playing for another team? My numbers may be wrong and if so I may be able to change my mind.

It happens all the time, especially in a situation where you have a new regime that wants to go in a completely different direction. I see A.S. and T.F. being in exactly that kind of situation with Matt after this season.
