k-train 8,899
No matter what your thoughts are on his performance in recent years, you've gotta appreciate the effort that man put forth in his time with this team. After getting released in his rookie year, he did everything he could to improve & was able to make the practice squad. His dedication to getting better & his willingness to do whatever it took to be a part of the team allowed him to fill a void when he made the move to FS. From there, he wasn't satisfied with just being a solid contributor, so he worked to become a leader in the secondary. What he lacked in athleticism he made up for to some degree with good play recognition & excellent communication skills. The lack of communication in the secondary was very noticeable in his absence as he worked hard to come back from an Achilles tear in 2018. With new coaches & schemes, and the need to get younger, cheaper players on the roster, it's definitely time for the Falcons to move on. But as a Falcon, Ricardo Allen remained a class act & in my opinion, deserves respect from every fan out there. Thanks for everything you gave, Rico & best of luck moving ahead! red falcon, DriveHomeSafelyAtlantaWins, NCCooley and 25 others 25
falcons007 24,247
Thanks to Rico. I wanted a New FS last couple of years but He played well in 2016 and 2017 playoffs. Giving credit where it’s due. I see Rico becoming a good coach in NFL. autigerfan, Peteshweddy, red falcon and 3 others

Yeah Im not a defensive guy so I never really understood why he was so hated. I thought he was pretty solid for the most part. 4dabirds 3,746
Ricardo was a good Falcon, I hope he lands somewhere that he’s able to start and thrive. Or, I hope he makes the jump too coaching and does well there. red falcon
Lornoth 12,233
Great player for where he was drafted. He'll be a really good backup somewhere. It's not his fault DQ insisted on crowning him the starter year after year. vitaman and red falcon
Ezekiel 25:17 17,627
I put Rico in the same camp as Worrilow. They are guys that gave you EVERYTHING they have, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t enough to starters. I appreciated their efforts most definitely! I can’t say either one of them took anything for granted or took any plays off. Knight of God and MoFalconsFan56
thanat0s 5,181
Rico always laid it on the line, for sure. And he has a good head for the game. I expect him to realize that dream of being a coach in the future. Best wishes!

People forget Rico in playoffs of 2016 and 2017. He made crucial plays. me4falcons

Now, if only Rico had range to go with his consistency and Brains. quickzero

Outside of him being upgradable period, he was a solid starter but you needed more athletically at the end of the day. Sure, he was better than Wor overall but they both would have been good depth guys, not multi year starters.

Worrilow should have never started in the NFL. I get the hate for Rico but comparison to worrilow is just funny. me4falcons and red falcon 1

As long as you didn’t throw at him with a bigger Receiver sure in 2015-2017, he was fine. He always knew where to be but had problems his entire time at making some plays. To a degree he always had physical liabilities, just like the guy you don’t want me to mention. Which is why I was ok with him as a stop gap type until you brought in a potential Pro Bow upgrade guy. Warrilow was lucky to be on the field.
