1st Round QB's still with their drafted team since 2017.

2017
Mitchell Trubisky (Chicago)
Patrick Mahomes (KC)
Deshaun Watson (Houston)

2018
Baker Mayfield (Cleveland)
Sam Darnold (New York Jets)
Josh Allen (Buffalo)
Lamar Jackson (Baltimore)

2019
Kyler Murray (Arizona)
Daniel Jones (New York Giants)

2020
Joe Burrow (Cincinnati)
Tua Tagovailoa (Miami)
Justin Herbert (San Diego)
Jordan Love (Green Bay)

Mahomes, Watson, Allen, Jackson, Murray, Burrow, Herbert seem like bonafide Franchise QB's.

I understand the point you're trying to make but:

1) That's still only half from the recent list, and that's when we present the argument in the best possible light.

2) Wentz looked like a bonafide franchise QB after two years, too.

The NFL doesn't work the way it did at the turn of the century. Guys like the Matts who play 10+ years for the same team are few and far between.

To wit, out of that list, Watson wants out, Murray struggled mightily down the stretch, poor offensive line play got Burrow hurt, and Herbert went 2-9 after his 4-0 start.

Not For Long has never been truer than it is right now. It's why I laugh when people talk about 10-year starters at LT or QB or any position really. Atlanta's got two of them, and that qualifies as an embarrassment of riches. Even then, the cap hits turn the blessings into something of a curse.

Every yen in this league has a yang.

The question we need to answer with this off-season is what makes the team better next year. The absolute best case scenario is that we can reasonable plot for three years.

You could have left 2019 and 2020 off your list. Of course those guys aren't going anywhere. C'mon man

Trubisky, Watson, Darnold look to be on the way out.

Ehhh, half of the guys from 2017-19 weren’t great. Trubisky, Darnold, Rosen, Jones and Haskins aren’t very good. Baker is good, but I don’t know if I would say he is playing at a high level. I’m not so sure this past year was the best Josh Allen will ever be, and Lamar? Ehh. He showed again this year that he has issues as a passer, so I’ll be interested to see how long his legs can carry him.

That leaves Kyler, Mahomes and Watson who are very good IMO. The funny part? Only one of them was taken in the top 10. And if you include Lamar and Allen in this conversation, only one was taken in the top 5.

Taking a QB in the top 5 is overrated. People like Matt Ryan are the exception, not the standard

I only counted the good ones.  I overestimated, though.  It’s 10 QB’s taken in 1st round since 2017 have been very solid (initially I said 11).

I count Watson, Mahomes, Mayfield, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Murray & Darnold (he will be solid outside Gase tutelage)

You can’t really count Watson.  He is a top 5 QB.  Any team that drafted Wilson in the 1st round would consider it a great investment

This is why it's difficult to have honest conversations. Folks like you call reality an excuse. Tom Brady wouldn't even have been able to win with all that went on in Philly last season. The fact that you ended with it being about Ryan not getting respect tells me everything I need to know. Appreciate it

Tom brady wouldnt have won on his present team if the team wasnt as good as it is.

Don't hate him at all. Greatest winner of our generation, but even by his standards he was average this year and that team that was built around him bailed him out.

He threw the 2nd most TDs and the 5th most yards of his entire 20 year career last year. Thats quite a bit above average even for him.

Oh please man, go to work for twitter with your fact checks. Gronk, evans, godwin, ab, fournette, jones, and the other te whose name escapes me all to throw to. Then that defense. Like I've said before, napolean dynamites uncle could have been successful with that team. That's why i argue that we should avoid a new qb, and build a formidable team first.
