Its finally here! Camp opens Thursday when pitchers and catchers report.

Snitker said Soroka was able to participate in drills today. He fielded comebacks, bunted and of course threw a side session. Fielding and running are his only remaining hurdles.

Nick Markakis has announced his retirement. Kakes said he knew after the NLCS that he would never play again. Just waited to announce his decision. Kakes had 2,971 ABs as a Brave. He hit .283/.357/.40

Cristian Pache will never get to hit with runners on base this spring at the rate the Braves are going.

Today would have been a good day for Pache to hit 3rd to get those opportunities. Depending on who else is playing in a game he should hit closer to the top to get those chances not towards the bottom like he will be once the season starts.

Well the only reason he didn't today was because the Red Sox ended innings twice before the Braves recorded 3 outs. In the 1st inning there was only 1 out and the bases loaded with Pache due up when they ended the inning. In the 3rd inning there was 2 on and 2 out with Pache due up when the Red Sox ended the inning. So frustrating.

Smyly looked great, Ozzie hit a homer, and one of my favorite prospects Victor Vodnik made his big league spring debut and put up a goose egg.

The rest of the game kind of sucked, but no one got hurt so it was a win.

Also, RHP Victor Arano arrived in camp after being delayed due to visa issues. I have him as a strong possibility for Opening Day, but he's got to play some catch-up.

So they may not be as sold on Pache as they say.

The Braves were among 11 teams that attended his workout but I'm not sure how serious we actually are. As I'm sure you noticed AA is very much about due diligence. He calls about everyone at least once just to know whats there. As any good GM should, you have to know the market.
