Film Review - Arthur Smith Offense

Hey will you look at that? A play caller that utilizes pre snap movement/shifts. This is why it’s important to line Julio up on the left. It’s harder for the defense to disguise their true coverage and adding shift or motion they have to tell on themselves which does what class?? Makes it easier for Matt to make his read...PRE SNAP!! The easiest thing for a QB is knowing where he wants to go BEFORE the ball is snapped because he’s already identified the mismatch.

No doubt. Tannehill got the ball out pretty quick too before the opposing D could even think about getting pressure.  Might even work with our OL.

Absolutely. Our oline is better when the run the ball well. And being that smith likes the wide zone and LOVES running the ball that will do wonders for the oline in pass situations. Once you get the big boys up front running side to side it will tire them out and the oline will start dominating the pass. That’s why the 2016 line was so good. We ran the ball well which in turn helped pass blocking.

Koetter had a strategy.  All receivers run different routes but converge in the center of the field 40 yards downfield.  Matt always knows where to throw the football.  Just wait 6 seconds and try to hit the logo in the middle of the field.  It is too bad there were several fundamental issues with that strategy.

OK, I may be feeling a little sarcasm with I think of Koetter.  He redefined incompetence.

Koetter > 4 Verticals

Koetter > Pre-snap Motion > who needs that!! phhffftt!

Koetter > Runs > wasted downs (see Item 1)

Koetter > Play Action > Not Effective > Wasted Energy (see Item 1 and Item 3)

also Koetter > OL play suxx

also Koetter > .....  you get the idea. :sigh:

We should also expect Ryan to understand who will be open the quickest based on concept.

In both situations Brown was the read of Tannehill, but I'm curious if he was supposed to be the first read by design or if Tannehill was stuck on him, especially with the rub route concept on the 2nd play.
