Popular Post Lornoth 11,642
Our defense played lights out today, let's get that out of the way. A few mistakes by the Raiders but they played really well. We did what this defense was designed for: Took away the deep passes, forced the underneath throws, and then tackled for little gain, all while getting pressure without the need to blitz. Great game. Please don't look at the score and think Koetter has figured anything out. We were handed great field position all game with possession after possession, and we still managed to go 3-and-out and kick FG's multiple times. Running game was bad besides a few good Ito plays (why haven't we been playing him again?), and Ryan was still having to hold the ball way too long to find a WR to throw to, besides all the dumb screens that mostly went nowhere. The raiders had no passrush and we still weren't finding open guys. Not to mention the Raiders bailed our offense out multiple times with dumb penalties. Koetter did the same thing he does every single game, our defense just showed up today. Also this isn't necessarily on Koetter but I don't understand the 2 or 3 games a year where our receivers just drop everything. We need a new WR coach on top of it all because they were bad today. This isn't to bash the team, we played great. Defense was actually fun to watch for maybe the first time since 2017. I just hope people aren't thinking our offense was anything different today. Mr.11 7,977
Ryan threw 39 passes for 185 yards. Dude hasn't cracked 200 yards passing in two consecutive games now, not to mention has 2 TDs to 3 INTs, and the Raiders were down two of their starting DBs at one point. Also he's been hit and sacked a ton, and it's not because the O line is giving up pressure quickly. MilleniumFalcon, Halcon-1 and sappy1

hjerry 25,751
To me, this game was a mix of the last game and the Vikings game. Unlike the Vikings game, we still were awful on offense, but it looked better than last week, because we were playing an inferior defense. Like the Vikings game, the opposing offense played like crap and gave us constant opportunities. Games like this would lead you to believe the defense is playing great, but it's easy to do that when the other team plays poorly. I want to see the defense play like this even when the other team is good and plays well. Pacific_Falcon, Falcon fan 4 ever, Halcon-1 and 2 others 4

octoslash 18,051
A lot of guys dropped a lot of decent passes from Matt today, but at the same time, Matt obviously is not playing very well. He's either holding on to the ball too long, or throwing it into stupid areas. And that's just not like him. VTCrunkler

THEHEADCOACH 3,310
The offense was still stale outside of a few plays. I saw a OC that still fails to figure out ways to get WRs open and get the ball out of his QBs hands. Ryan holds it to long sometimes trying to make something happen, but that is because he knows there is nothing better coming. He feels the pressure of making every down count. Our plays are long developing and even with time Our receivers struggling to get open, so he holds it hoping the coverage will break down. It's either that or not move the ball... We had these same issues when Dirk was here before. Atlantafan21, JohnnyFranchise, PokerSteve and 5 others 7

You’re right. Koetter was same old same old today. Routes took forever to develop. Defense easily covered the routes. Ryan’s first and second reads were taken away. Ryan is getting hit a LOT in this offense because guys aren’t schemed open. This is like watching an offense from 1995 out there. Casual fans think “line can’t block, receivers can’t separate, running backs are slow, Ryan is washed.” Do you think when the entire offense has regressed over the last two years and every position group looks worse even after adding a ton of talent to it that it may be something bigger. Exactly. This offense is seriously SOOOOOO bad. And it’s why I knew that Hooper was overrated last season. His production (I’ll give him credit for being productive) was literally due to check down throws due to plays either not developing because of pressure or because nobody got open. The Raiders today put a spy on Ryan because they knew that all they had to do was prevent Ryan from buying time in order for a route to develop or for someone to get open on a broken play. This is the most frustrating and boring offense I’ve ever seen from the Falcons Goober Pyle, Ergo Proxy, Mr.11 and 2 others 4
