It's gonna be a long, strange offseason. This year is not the year to be a big name free agent.

Unknøwn
Braves signed Abraham Almonte to a non-guaranteed deal for 1 year. Basically a spring invite. Charlie Culberson declined assignment and has entered Free Agency. DOB said the Braves have a minor league deal on the table for him if he doesn't find a job somewhere else. Braves enter the winter with 6 open spots on the 40 man.

falconsd56
Honestly.....I would not mind if the Braves tried to sign both of them. They both can be vets for the youngins to lean on. Morton I particular would be good because he was such a late bloomer he could be big for a guy like Wright. But if only one signs then that would be good too jidady

FalconsIn2012
Not gonna lie, this would be devastating starting 5 if Soroka returns to form: Soroka Fried Anderson Wainwright Wright Then an everyday lineup of: Acuna Freeman Ozuna (DH) Duvall (streaky but I like him hitting 4th) d’arnaud Albies Pache Riley Swanson Bullpen is set once we replace or extend Melancon & Greene

He doesn't hit RHP good enough to be in there everyday. Duvall vs. RHP = .229/.284/.463 (.747) Duvall vs. LHP = .243/.318/.482 (.801) That is why I keep suggesting (have been since last offseason) Joc Pederson as a platoon partner because Pederson is just the opposite. He crushes RHP but can't hit LHP. Pederson vs. RHP = .238/.349/.501 (.849) Pederson vs. LHP = .191/.266/.310 (.576) Both are great fielders and baserunners. Put them together and we're looking at a potential 5 win player. Let Snitker know it's a strict platoon. Snitker showed down the stretch that he can do a platoon thing when he didn't start Markakis against LHP so I have faith he would keep Pederson on the bench against LHP. You could probably get Pederson on a reasonable short term deal. He'll want to build value and this market is so crazy. Also, wonder what this year would have looked if the Angels hadn't backed out of acquiring Pederson in February, they had the deal done but got cold feet. Joc was a huge part of their WS run this year. AUTiger7222

He's not gonna get a big deal because he can't hit LHP and unless you've got someone to pair with him you'll have to sign two guys to fill one position. That's gonna turn off a lot of teams. Braves don't have that problem since we've already got Duvall.

Fried - 11 GS, 56 IP, 42 H, 14 R, 14 ER, 2 HR, 19 BB, 50 SO, 2.25 ERA, 1.089 WHIP Bauer - 11 GS, 73 IP, 41 H, 17 R, 14 ER, 9 HR, 17 BB, 100 SO, 1.73 ERA, 0.795 WHIP Darvish - 12 GS, 76 IP, 59 H, 18 R, 17 ER, 5 HR, 14 BB, 93 SO, 2.01 ERA, 0.961 WHIP deGrom - 12 GS, 68 IP, 47 H, 21 R, 18 ER, 7 HR, 18 BB, 104 SO, 2.38 ERA, 0.956 WHIP Bauer and Davish aren't even debatable. They deserve to be top 3. But you can make a legit case for Fried over deGrom, especially given the team circumstances surrounding each. Fried did what he did under immense pressure of being the Braves only legit starter all season for a team that was leading the division nearly the whole season. deGrom was great but the Mets as a team weren't so the pressure for him to perform just wasn't there like it was for Fried.
