Watching pitchers bat is dreadful, plus in today’s environment it would eliminate a pitcher being removed from the game prematurely due to pinch hitting for him to get more runs. And YES to the extra inning rule! It’s a nightmare to manage a pitching staff with endless extra innings. But I do have one old school stronghold. I wish they would limit the number of pitchers on a roster. I’d like to see pitchers force themselves to be more efficient and pitch deeper into games and to prevent the constant pitching changes. That last part is tough. Because you have teams like the Dodgers. That just foul off everything and absolutely grind you into the ground. Rays let Glasnow throw 112 pitches last night and it got them through 1 out in the 5th against the Dodgers.

Well the plan was to limit staffs to 13 pitchers and 13 position players when the 26 man roster was introduced before all the Covid stuff happened. So if we have a normal season in 2021 we can expect that to go back into effect.

That will be more important if they add the DH. Teams will try to jam a 14th pitcher on there with a 3 man bench of a catcher, IF and OF. I know that one spits in the face of tradition but it would be one element that would help speed up the game and it would reward pitchers for making good pitches. How about just saying you can foul off the first potential strike 3 but after that the next swing must be put into play. Kinda crazy but isn’t pretty much everything going against tradition now? I mean this with all due respect but that is some serious rec league slow pitch softball grade a crap. 🤮 ATLBrave and TheTrue7 1

If you have the skill and coordination to foul off 10 pitches, all in different spots, locations, speeds, and breaks... you earned that. Unknøwn
DOB had an interesting note on Tyler Matzek. He said Anthopolous did not include Matzek in the original pool for Summer Camp. Snitker looked it over and called AA saying Matzek looked good in Spring and he would like him added. Anthopolous agreed and made the change. Imagine this season without Matzek. AUTiger7222
I know everyone is extremely down on Austin Riley but here's something else that should encourage anyone moving forward. In 2020 Austin Riley hit the ball harder more often than Freddie Freeman. Think about that for a moment. Freddie - 42.5 Riley - 42.

Either way, I'm not surprised. Riley crushed the ball a lot... right at somebody though. It was maddening how often it happened.

Maybe some of the bad luck evens out for Riley, along with taking a larger step forward in his hitting, because he will be our starting 3B next year. Here's something else that should encourage you with regards to Austin Riley for next year. Also, just so we're being completely fair to Riley, he had a 91.0 MPH exit velocity and a .269 BABIP. For comparison...Marcell Ozuna had a .257 BABIP and. 91.8 MPH exit velo in 2019. Riley had some bad luck in 2020.
