If there's going to be a vaccine, it's not coming from the US. We're too far behind on our research. So, owners will cut costs again. Yeah, I was discussing this on twitter today. While I have complicated feelings about it, I do think that MLB running the minors starting this season makes it a little more likely there will be some kind of minor league season, even if it's something like 25% capacity and mandatory masking. A lot of it's just going to come down to if people start taking masking, social distancing, and voluntary stay-at-home seriously or not. jidady

Yup. A Canadian friend was joking the other day that the rest of the world knows the secret, but they're refusing to tell America. I cannot believe how far behind we are from the rest of civilization.

I'm in Alabama which I know has a poor reputation, but honestly, I've been very impressed with the mask wearing. I vacationed out of state a few weeks ago and I'll tell you this: the state of Alabama is doing a much better job than other states from what I have seen. tl;dr
I've seen a bit of talk online about moving on from Riley, and I know we have had that discussion too. I think our top priorities still have to be keeping Ozuna (if the DH comes a year early), improving the bench, and making sure our SP is reliable still. Unknøwn
I'm not ready to move on from Riley. I just question whether he's ready for the everyday job right now.
JDFIII
A buddy and I were discussing Riley. I think we should package him and a prospect and see if we eat Arenado's deal, we could get him. Fill left field, and we have a pretty good squad. I like Riley, but, he seems like he may take a few more years to develop his stroke, and those are prime winning years for us, and FF. I like Ozuna, but, I would trade for Arenado before I would resign him.

Of the three players mentioned, two of them had similar numbers this year and Ozuna is not one of them.
Malachore
This is a pipe dream because it requires AA to trade significant prospects and LM to spend money but I'd love to see them reaign Ozuna and trade for Bryant so that Riley can take a year in Gwinnett. Don't think the Cubs would move him right now. His value took a hit this year. He hit .206/.293/.351. Teams would use that to try and drive down the price

They could look to move Bryant now but I'm not sure they will just yet. He could be the best bat available next year if he comes out hot. I dunno....Riley made strides. He is still a work in progress but another full "normal" off-season and hopefully full 2021 would help him more than being in the minors IMO. Ransack
It's too early to be giving up on a guy with 30-40 HR potential. He hasn't even played a full season in the majors yet and he's only 23. Give it some time and let him continue to develop. In a year or two if he hasn't advanced then yes you start looking but trading him right now is foolish IMO. I guess I more so meant get some help for him while he continues to develop. He never really popped off to me, he had some streaks of hard hit outs and he adjusted to the slider better and worse at hitting the fastball. To me he just flipped what he couldn't hit, obviously they can be more patient in regular season but that also depends on how or if they replace Ozuna's production. Unknøwn
Anthopolous said Acuna played hurt all postseason. The wrist wasn't bad enough to keep him out but AA said it was sore all October. He said they do plan to keep Freeman and will work towards a deal. He mentioned they want to keep it from being a question all the players and coaches have to answer so its likely something that's addressed this offseason. What impressed me the most was Riley's professionalism. Other than one baserunning miscue, he was absolute nails the entire postseason. The same applies to Dansby. During the forced rebuild, I'd emphasized the importance of position players. I looooooooove our infield. It might be the best in baseball. For the A
I believe that would be the best way to go by extending Freeman. then seeing what the budget is and go from there.

Freeman will take less as well. He wants to spread the money around just like Chipper did back in the day. AUTiger7222
