FalconFan13
The fact we have Ozuna, Acuna, and Albies for a combined 20 million in 2021 is straight up stupid If we resign Freeman for around 20 to 25 a year and his 1st year hit is 20 million or so. Then we will have signed and paid Freeman, Ozuna, Acuna, and Albies 40 million for 2021 and be the same exact cost as Trevor Bauer just for this year. I like Bauer alot but im taking those 4 players and contracts for next year over a Bauer 40 mil cost. AA did some elite level work on some of the contracts on this team. falconsd56, AUTiger7222, TheTrue7 and 2 others

As of right now he's a black hole, the guy can't even get a .300 obp. Bad luck or not he never walks and strikes out a ton. Guess we'll see what Chipper can do. I also think they could get and afford Jose Ramirez and he'd put this team over the top.
AUTiger7222
Hopefully fans are allowed at games this year. Gonna try to go to the Braves game against the Pirates on May 21st. He improved his walks and strikeouts big time in 2020. Just didn't have the results he deserved. He was hitting into Dansby Swanson type luck in 2020. falconsd56
I feel like people are sleeping on the Morton signing. He is a guy who some of the young kids can look up to. Guys like Wright, Touki, Wilson and others. Those guys who clearly have the stuff and look good in stretches and then everything falls a part. He is a great example of a guy who had the stuff but did not put it together until later. He could have a big impact on the young guys on the staff. Just another example of a guy that had a good career and we sign him as his career enters its twilight. We always do this. With all that’s said about our offense, our pitching is a fragile house of cards. Soroka coming off a very delicate injury, Ian Anderson still young and unproven, Max Fried who can’t pitch deep into games, and Morton as he closes out his career. Not exactly Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz, and Avery. And without a DH, we have Ozuna’s defense to deal with. Hoping for the best but lots of worries. I like Renato Nunez as a bench bat/A. Riley insurance there...shouldn't be north of 6-7million and he's young; I say grab him and maybe a Villar type guy (switch hitter, better contact rates) as an upgrade over Camargo and, if possible, put together a trade for Willians Astudillo; all three we're pretty cost controlled and waaayyy deeper than now. All three swing it well; to me, the everyday group is very solid, as is the rotation. Minter, Matzek, Martin and Smith plus guest appearances from guys like De La Cruz, Ynoa, Davidson, Mueller, Wilson, Wright...I think save $ on Melancon or otherwise in the pen and make sure the bench is competitive/we can rest guys and still compete. Great, great deal for the Braves; love the terms and this puts us at what...134 million or so for this year? Figure 5 million or so to extend Freddie and Swanson and we're around 140...I think 10m in bench investment gets us the farthest, especially if we can dump Inciarte and get a guy like Nunez or Villar for net 0. Augustadawgchop
With Pache and Acuna, we can slide the outfield to Ozuna and protect his defense quite a bit as well...definitely a big net plus for us with his power protecting freddie, plus his personality as others have mentioned. Good day for the Braves and well done AA...always laying in the grass and honestly, has the guy tipped his hand even once yet? With a bit better luck he could possibly be a .260 hitter which is plenty considering his power. They also have slugging and OBP. Not exactly Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz, and Avery. And without a DH, we have Ozuna’s defense to deal with. Hoping for the best but lots of worries. There are a lot of inaccuracies here. 1. How is Ian Anderson unproven? He was arguably our best pitcher in the playoffs, a time where there is more stress and spotlight on a pitcher than any other time. What else does he have to do to “prove it”? 2. Fried averaged 5.1 innings in 2020 regular season. League average was 4.7, and in the playoffs in 4 starts he averaged 5.75. Fried was the only starter we had that did this. Almost no pitchers pitched past the 7th inning in the playoffs on any team, and Fried went 7, 6,6 and 4 innings pitched. With our bullpen last year, this was more than acceptable. 3. by all accounts, Soroka is already further along than he should be and looks good so far. He is young and will heal fast. Not worried at all about him. 4. Charlie Morton in game 7 of the ALCS threw 5.2 shutout innings, struck out 6 and only allowed 2 hits against the Astros. That doesn’t sound like a guy with nothing left in the tank. We don’t need him to be anything more than a mentor and number 4 in the rotation. He brings much needed experience to an extremely young pitching staff. We also have Wilson and Wright in the wings, and he will help them and Touki as well, as he was a late bloomer and didn’t put everything together until he was in his 30’s. He’s basically the “Charlie Liebrandt” of this staff. 5. Ozuna’s defense isn’t as bad as it is made out to be. He had a shoulder injury a couple of years ago that affected his throwing power. Before that, he won a gold glove. Honestly, as long as he is a neutral defender, Pache can make up for any defensive shortcomings. instead of concentrating on the negative so much, you should realize that we just got back a great piece, shored up our rotation issues and are looking right now to be the second best team in the NL. If AA can pull out a 3rd baseman like Ramirez or Bryant, we might be the number 1 team in the NL. And mind you, that’s with a bunch of young guys still having not reached their projected potential. The future is so bright, we have to wear shades. Williamb and Boise Falcon Fan 1
Des-pool
And btw-expecting Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Avery from any pitching staff is not realistic. That’s 3 hall of fame pitchers on arguably the greatest pitching staff ever assembled. That’s really, really hard and unlikely to duplicate. that being said, I really, really like Soroka, Fried and Anderson. They have a good chance to be really good for many years. Unknøwn
Ozuna's defense won't matter beyond 2021. We know the DH will be permanent in 2022. So at most he just has to play LF for 1 year.
