This roster and franchise reeks of McKay

Recommended Posts

Been trying to rebuild the 2000 Bucs for 20 years with no success. Look at current roster

Ito Smith- Warrick Dunn

Deon Jones- Derek Brooks

Julio Jones (Gave up the farm to draft him)- Keyshawn Johnson (Gave up the farm to draft him)

Defensive Minded Coaches- Mora, Smitty, Quinn

Frankenstein non mobile QB's- Matt Ryan- Brad Johnson

Always drafting CBs that dont work out.

Enough. The game has changed we need to change with it. McKay is a dinosaur and needs to have ZERO input on picks and coaches. McKay should have been fired after Petrino.

Sorry but some pretty weak arguments.

you mentioned defense minded coaches, but TB won the SB with Gruden - an offensive coach.

Ito in mid rounds is hardly trying to replicate Dunn. Most teams have receiving backs in the stable. Should we NOT take a receiving back ever? If he is trying to recapture Dunn why did we sign Gurley and draft Ollison and Hill, all who are bigger?

So each team happens to have an athletic LB...do you want a bunch of Ed Hartwells out there instead? You say adapt with the times, but DeBo is the modern prototypical LB, so kind of a contradiction there.

I won’t even waste keystrokes on the Matt Ryan/Brad Johnson comparison, Keyshawn wasn’t drafted by the Bucs (though they gave 2 firsts for him in a trade) and the Bucs had very good CBs that played many years there, Mainly Ronde Barber & Brian Kelly (I think).

oh and they won the SB in 2002 season so don’t care about the 2k Bucs. We get you hate Rich McKay, but this is just ridiculous man.

McKay had little to do with it. He was named CEO and president of the Falcons in 2016 during Blank's stepdown and reorganization. At the time both DQ and TD were both reporting directly to Blank. This was pre super bowl.

His job before then was just managing the business side of the Falcons. He probably had little input in the on field product.
