K26dp
José Martínez suffered a torn meniscus in today's game and is expected to miss four months. Martínez was fighting for a spot on the Mets after signing a minor league contract. He suffered the injury after colliding with an umpire while fielding a ground ball at first base. The injury could cause the Mets to turn to Maikel Franco, who is still a free agent and was recently linked to New York by Jon Heyman. That definitely falls into the "strange" baseball injuries category.

Sammy Sosa sneezed and threw his back out. Ryan Dempster jumped over the railing after a Cubs win and broke his toe. CrimsonFalcon

For the A
MLB will be trying out some new rules in the Minors this year again. In Triple A they will increase the base size from 15 inches to 18 inches. Increasing the base size they hope to accomplish more stolen bases. Double A will focus on the defensive shift. It will require teams have 4 infielders and they all must be positioned in the infield dirt. Double A and below will look at different things regarding step off / pick off moves and attempts. The third confuses me, pitchers have to step off to throw to a base anyway.

Not quite, in MLB you have to step towards the base you're throwing too. You can leave your back foot on the rubber as long as you make that step. This rule would require you to take your foot off the rubber and then throw. Its a pretty terrible rule, you have no shot at controlling any runner because you'll never pick anyone off. I get MLB wants to do everything they can to make homeruns less important and other aspects of baseball more important but this rule is awful. You get a fast runner on base and it's automatic he'll end up on 3rd like this.
AUTiger7222
At least check Joc Pederson also had 5 homeruns this spring. Means absolutely nothing.

Unknøwn
It should be noted that the 1 walk Leiter allowed was the very first hitter of the game. He retired all 27 after that. AUTiger7222 and ATL Fan in the DMV
