ATLBrave 3,605
I wonder if Lucchesi or Davies is in the package to CHC if they are looking for experienced pitching from SD.
Unknøwn 13,302
Caratini is reportedly going to SD with Darvish. Padres young catcher Luis Campusano is not involved.
AUTiger7222 6,732
How the crap do the Padres keep making all these major trades without giving up any of their elite prospects. Is A.J. Peller just that much smarter than everyone else or does he put them under some kind of strange spell?
Unknøwn 13,302
Zach Davies going to Chicago. Owen Caissie and Reginald Preciado also going. Preciado is the Padres #11 prospect. Thats the highest ranked player in the deal.
ATLBrave 3,605
Cubs eating some salary too. Makes an interesting deal more of a head scratcher.

It's just the Ricketts being cheap. They got their world title. They're good for the rest of their lives. They're garbage people. You can google the details of the family feud. K26dp 5,126
Love the prospects the Rays got for Snell. They may take a step back for this year, but with their system they'll be a player for the rest of this decade. That Darvish trade though... hard to believe that's all it took to get Darvish. Pure salary dump. Awful.
Unknøwn 13,302
The Cubs should just commit to a full rebuild. If they want to burn it down might as well beef up the system and start over. AUTiger7222

K26dp 5,126
5 hours ago, tl;dr said: Shoot, go ahead and make a Kris Bryant trade lol This is the predicament the Cubs are in. Bryant is set to make over $18 million in arbitration. That is right at market value for a typical Kris Bryant season, which means there isn't excess value for which to get a good return. A fair trade would be something like a mid-grade prospect -- someone like Greyson Jenista or Nolan Kingham for the Braves. Of course if the Cubs traded Bryant for that kind of deal, fans would revolt. So to improve the return, the Cubs could pay part of the salary. However, ownership is crying poverty, so it's unlikely that they would do that. At this point the Cubs would be better off holding on to Bryant and hoping that he exceeds expectations. He could then either help the Cubs win games or be flipped to a contender midseason for a better package than what would likely be available now. But that may not be feasible if ownership has mandated a payroll cut. Anyway, sucks for them.

Unknøwn 13,302
Thats a 3 year $65M deal. They'd probably dump him for nothing but thats a hefty contract.
