Given that Lynn's only earning $8 million a year, less than what we're paying for Smyly, I like the deal a lot more for them during a time of economic uncertainty.

I'm reminded of when Philly traded J.A. Happ and another player for Roy Oswalt. Dunning looks like a moderate rotation guy who turns 26 in a few days. Sure, there's risk, but Lynn would/should have gotten a lot more at the trade deadline. They screwed up by waiting.

Report out there that Lynn essentially created his own no trade clause by threatening to opt out if he was sent somewhere he didn’t agree to.

Yeah, I can't help but wonder what kind of financial restrictions he was given. It's strange in that he allegedly could have had the Mets job, and they've got money now.

Trading Lynn is just good sense, financials or not. And at only $8M, I doubt it was financially motivated at all. They got a kid that looks to be a solid mid-rotation guy for the next 6 years and lefty that could be something too. I wouldn't be surprised if they re-signed Lynn next year either.

But wouldn't you have figured that they had better offers at the end of August for him? There was a lot of pitching needy teams like the Braves that could have used him. Even the White Sox could have used him last August as they had a severe shortage of starting pitching that got exposed in the playoffs against the A's.

This is why.

Watching International Talk and saw Chris Rose is leaving the show, talks as if he was terminated. Any idea as to why? Loved that show, won't be the same without him.

Edit: Looks like his contract wasn't renewed.

Probably too expensive for MLBN. IT definitely won't be the same. I know he does work for Discovery Channel already. Be interesting to see where he goes.

David Dahl gets 1Y/3M from the Rangers good pick-up -- good chance for a bounce-back if he can stay healthy, then he can be flipped during the season. Rockies probably made a mistake not tendering him.

I thought so too until I looked at his splits and saw that he's got dramatic home/road splits. Looks like he's another product of the Coors Field effect.
