He batted .234 against the FB last year, he's actually slightly better this year.  He'll run into HRs, but he has a problem with premium velocity

Correct. But he slugged .497 against fastballs last year and hit 12 homeruns off fastballs. This year his average was only slightly better but his slugging was only .352 and he hit only 1 homerun.

In 2019 Riley was incredible at hitting fastballs. You couldn't get a fastball past him. Now he can't hit them.

He has to shorten his swing.   He rears up trying to knock it into the parking lot.   If he doesn’t fix it he will spend his career as a 4C backup or on the short side of a platoon, which would be a shame because when he is on he looks like Harmon Killebrew up there

For a team that plays in the same division as the Red Sox an Yankees and can't spend the money they do, I'm super impressed with how they field a competitive team. I hope they eat the Dodgers alive.

You know what's funny about them being in that division? Their original owner was given the choice of being in the central or east division and chose the east and the Tigers moved to the central to make room in the east. He said he wanted to be in the same division with the Yankees and Red Sox because then people would come and watch his team play.

Honestly you could say that about our whole lineup over the last 3 games.  I noticed alot of the strikeouts or pop fly's were on massive going for it all swings.  It felt like we went away from being a very good hitting team to everyone trying to be a hero and that just not what brought us to this dance i didn't like it 1 bit.

Exactly. They were trying to match homeruns with the Dodgers and they couldn't do it. Dodgers naturally hit homeruns because they stayed within themselves. Braves started trying to hit homeruns and it resulted in a lot of weak fly balls.

It was the One Win Away syndrome.   They started pressing trying to close it out.

Yup i've seen many teams do it as well and it sucks every time.  Which is crazy because the best part about the offense was watching people get hits, get on base, and the next guy keeping the hit train going.  Every player would be doing the mix it up after each hit because everyone was getting in on it and they fed off each other.   They went away from the one thing they loved doing the most :(

That was 2010 and I didn't even get to enjoy it. I was homeless twice that year and lived in the dead of winter without any power in a condemned trailer. When I did get the chance to catch a game at someone's house I had to put up with drunk fools that I didn't even know and put up with the whole Scam Newton crap from them because they were all Bammer fans. So yeah, Auburn may have won the championship that year, but there was no joy I could take from it given the circumstances of my personal life.

Well we will be in good shape to make several runs over the next decade.  Braves will get a few rings during Acuna’s time

Facts.  I’ll take .260 with 28 HR’s over .220 with 18 HR’s, five of which travelled over 500 feet

Something I want to add is that we traded for Dansby in anticipation of him being clutch and a winner. The first two years were rough, but you can heard the pride in Smoltz’s voice when he talks about how much Swanson has advanced as a hitter ever since.

Agreed, I'd like for us to try and sign him long term. He'll never live up to being the first pick in the draft, but dude's a winner.  Getting better as a hitter, plays gold glove defense, and is a glue guy in the clubhouse

The most important thing about the 2021 Braves is something we cannot control. We need Mike Soroka to come back like it’s 2019. That takes all the pressure off Anderson, Wilson, and Wright.

Could also use a vet starter and bringing Ozuna back. Lineup should be fine, but we need more offensive depth.

True, at least it wasn't an arm injury, but the next worst thing is an achilles, but knowing how he trains and attacks things, I bet he'll be back to 100% at some point next year.  With him back, we've got a solid starting rotation
