Justice was the only hitter we ever had that rose to the occasion, so of course they shipped him out of town in 1997

I never bump my own posts, but every time I think about this I rage like Hitler in the bunker. . . We dealt Justice and Grissom for Kenny Lofton, who sucked and couldn’t wait to leave town the next year.

At least we had Jermaine Dye to replace Justice‘s power—nope, the next day we dealt him for. . . Michael Tucker, whose skill set was so generic he should have had “PLAYER” across his uniform back.   An entire starting outfield dealt for a one year rental and a warm body.

So we spend the next three postseasons losing 3-2 while Schuerholz broke his arm patting himself on the back for assembling ‘the greatest rotation ever’, half of which was here when he arrived.   Man he was overrated as a GM.

The one year we had offensive depth we won it.   So of course we let them walk.

Riley is still only 23 years old and barely has 500 MLB plate appearances to his name. Way too early to give up on him.

True. He has to develop a better overall approach as his swing seems to have that all or nothing nature to it. Sorta like Duvall changing to keep the bat over the plate longer?

Shows how much I know...forgot he and Donaldson weren't the same position. This DH thing has me all out of sorts. Is Riley still worth hoping he becomes a more stable hitter? Take off like Dansby did?

Riley has a problem with velocity, it'll be hard for him to be a consistent hitter.  Dansby has never seen a fastball he didn't like, he's always mashed that pitch

Rays are the second team I like.  Have liked them since they have McGriff, Canseco, Boggs and Vinny Castilla

We had MLB Extra Innings right when Carl Crawford and Rocco Baldelli came up. They were fun to watch, and I’ve loved them ever since. Baldelli is a guy who would have been a Hall of Famer if not for a fluke malady. He had unholy speed and barreled everything.

Yep. Absolute truth right here and never made a lick of sense. If you're gonna trade Justice, fine, you've got Dye to replace him. But then to turn around and trade Dye for a guy as average as Michael Tucker made no sense at all.

In 2019 Riley was incredible at hitting fastballs. You couldn't get a fastball past him. Now he can't hit them.

That’s great. My wife and I have joked that the pandemic has worked out like Old Pearson’s Blue Lagoon for us. Liking the person you love makes all the difference in the world.

That’s right! My wife...she’s younger than me by 10 years but we’ve been married 16 and counting....point being she’s on Tik Tok and is always showing me videos that I honestly don’t care to watch....or instagram videos...same different to me, however she showed me an actor and his wife actress or vice versa who were always due to work, eventually going through a divorce...turns out the pandemic which they respected. Being at home together saved their marriage  humbling

It's a shame what happened to Rocco Baldelli. Dude could hit everything and run like the wind.

So the owners seen what we can do with a somewhat depleted team it's time for them to go ******* big or go home.  Sign Ozuna back for a few years, sign Bauer, and sign 1 very good utility guy.  Bring back Pache to the major league roster and bring up waters.   I know it would be a little bit of money spent but this is the time to finish the job and become a dominant team going forward.  I can promise Liberty Media if they can find a way toi somewhat buy us a world series their revenue coming back from the merchandise sales and fan attendance would way more than make up for the money they spent on those 3 guys.

Bauer, Soroka, Fried, Anderson, and Wright   are a more than formidable group to win a world series with and the offense should only get better with young talented players getting more experience and replacing auto outs like Ender for most of the season.

For a team that plays in the same division as the Red Sox an Yankees and can't spend the money they do, I'm super impressed with how they field a competitive team. I hope they eat the Dodgers alive.

They got to get away from long ball game and play more ABC baseball also,

It’s disgusting watching them on the bases or trying to bunt. I went nuts over this during last years playoffs and this year I’m livid.

He batted .234 against the FB last year, he's actually slightly better this year.  He'll run into HRs, but he has a problem with premium velocity

Honestly you could say that about our whole lineup over the last 3 games.  I noticed alot of the strikeouts or pop fly's were on massive going for it all swings.  It felt like we went away from being a very good hitting team to everyone trying to be a hero and that just not what brought us to this dance i didn't like it 1 bit.

It was the One Win Away syndrome.   They started pressing trying to close it out.
