I'm sorry, but I will always point out the fact that if they elected Saints LB Rickey Jackson to the HOF, who played on a historically bad Saints teams of the 80s and 90s, then why not anyone else?

Because the voters are full of ****.

And Jessie Tuggle and Tommy Nobis are not add to that $hitfulness!

Yes, I just made up a word but it can already be properly used in a sentence. B)

My abilty to fomulate a reasonable difference of opinion. Also, because i don't get in orgy lines. 2 great seasons don't equate to a gold jacket.

Well I can see my attempt to have a reasonable discussion about why you think Patrick Mahomes will just plummet into an everyday run of the mill QB isn't worth the effort given your 13 year old response so I bid you a good day sir.

Dale Murphy is more like Matthews level good, not Julio

Dale Murphy had the 2nd most home runs of the entire 1980's. He didn't play in the juiced ball, or steroid era, so his numbers don't look as crazy as today's players. He was a 2 time MVP. **** good player, and should be in the HOF.

I hear ya, he was indeed one of best players for 7-8 years... .but after his monster ‘87 season, Murphy fell off a cliff afterwards. To me, that’s (.265 career BA) not quite HOF worthy. And I loved Murph.

Negative. For about 2-3 years Dale was THE best player in MLB, and if you look at 80-87 is top 1 or 2 (42.8 bWAR ). His problem is he fell off the cliff at the end of that stretch. So up to age 31 he was a sure HOF pick. Even with his decline starting in 88 if you look at his stats for the entirety of the 80s he's the leader in many of the categories.

Has Matthews ever played at that level?

I'm not arguing he's HOF worthy ... I'm just saying for a multiyear stretch he was without a doubt one of the top players in his sport.

Dale Murphy was one of the top 5 best players in the entire NL in the 1980s. You're grossly underselling what he did on the field. You don't win back-to-back league MVP's by being "only very good."

Druw had a career fWAR of 67. Murph had a career fWAR of 44.3. The average HOF has a career fWAR between 50 and 70. I’m not underselling anything.

Patrick Mahomes is a flash in the pan and will not be a HOFer.

No way. Great arm, great elusiveness,  great scrambling ability, outstanding accuracy while on the run, etc.... If healthy,  Mahomes will rewrite a lot of records IMO.

I don’t think Julio gets in if he doesn’t play another snap either

After playing +10 years at the level that he has, being the most feared man at his position and he still isn’t in???

Wow, using your logic that definitely means Mahomes not a lock after ONLY playing three seasons and not having 10,000 yards yet.

Thanks!
