i hate the way the 6 looks. looks too much like a G. i wanted to get a Lindstrom jersey but after seeing the 6 in the new font i gotta pick something else i guess.

So, let me get this straight. You want a jersey, but decided not to get it because the "6" looks like a "G", even though you know its a "6"??

That's how the mind works, bro. Some people will see a G looking at it without giving it any extra thought.

So will your mind also tell you his new number is 5G when you see it? The fact that you would even say the 6 looks like a G should AUTOMATICALLY tell you that you know its a 6 and not a G. People who make excuses to be dumb so they can appear smart are fascinating.

Ok, really didn't want to have to do this, but my degree is in psychology so I can't help it.

"There are two general processes involved in sensation and perception. Bottom-up processing refers to processing sensory information as it is coming in. In other words, if I flash a random picture on the screen, your eyes detect the features, your brain pieces it together, and you perceive a picture of an eagle. What you see is based only on the sensory information coming in. Bottom-up refers to the way it is built up from the smallest pieces of sensory information.

Top-down processing, on the other hand, refers to perception that is driven by cognition. Your brain applies what it knows and what it expects to perceive and fills in the blanks, so to speak."

Yes, sometimes my eyes perceive 5G before top-down processing takes over and I then see 56 based on what I know.  It's a pretty common thing because people make snap judgments all the time. It's how our brains are wired so as to be able to quickly perceive and distinguish threats.

If this offends you because a design choice of a new uniform you seem to be the unofficial spokesperson for is being criticized (and it's a valid one), well, that's not my problem. That doesn't negate that what I'm speaking of is a very real psychological phenomenon that happens to everyone, including you.
