With Tru finally coming off the books we now have 11.5 million remaining CAP space to put the finishing touches on what could be another spectacular offseason by Dimitroff, Quinn & Co.

Not that I don't believe you, but this is higher than what I had been seeing posted recently.

Now that we have out Post June 1st money. Can we confirm this is in fact the the amount we have left to spend? Including the 3-4 mil for the draft class??

Great teams have a healthy balance of veterans and players on rookie contracts.  The vets are huge Wed-Friday getting the team prepared.  Guys like Freeney, Malloy, Cornelius Bennett, Poe etc have impact not seen in the box score.

Our 2020 roster is still incredibly young, especially at CB & LB

Understandable. But I believe we have it but we don't realize. I think we need to allow the guys we have a chance to be leaders.

Someone posted the info in another thread

After signing our draft class, adding the 52 and 53 players, and leaving 3 mil to sign players during the season, it only leaves with about 4 in real space

Without even more restructuring anyway

In a similar thread a week or two ago, I mentioned that the best course of action might actually be to roll as much available 2020 cap money over to next year, rather than spending it all on a free agent just because we can.

Seeing this chart is showing just $59k in projected cap room for 2021 right now... and considering there's been chatter about the 2021 cap potentially decreasing form the current projections depending how things unfold for the NFL over the next few months.... I'm even more inclined to say that's probably the best thing to do.

So closer to 4 and change, or 11 and change lol

Cap will continue its upward slope increases in 2021.

TD/DQ are fighting for their jobs. Not sure they’ll spend this $7-$8 mil wisely, but i’m pretty confident they‘ll spend it all.

True, it will most likely continue to increase, but the fact that the commissioner came out recently and said a decrease for 2021 is a very real possibility is something teams have to be prepared for.

As for the "fighting for their jobs" thing... I totally get where you're coming from, but I always think that's kind of a silly argument when it relates directly to conversations about the following season. The entire intent of that premise is to win enough games to save their jobs and still be here next year. So if the whole point is to still be the GM & HC in 2021 and beyond, how/why on Earth would they not ALSO be considering things beyond this season?

Exactly. I think Griffen and Curry would be a tremendous help to our young players and increase our chances for the SB.

I don't believe  GRIFFEN nor CURRY are all that realistic.

After rookie monies gone, leaves us about $7mm.

Falcons need a vet corner and a vet LB.   Likely a 1 year deal for each.    Given the resources given to DL with the monies to FOWLER and draft capital to Marlon Davidson - I doubt the Falcons plan to do much more on the DL.   They are probably also hopeful on Comminsky.   Is what we have at passrush enough now?  Probably not unless Takk McKinley turns it up a notch, but the vet CB and vet LB probably a greater need.

Schaub has a $2MM salary and $2.375M cap hit. Not sure why people think he is paid so handsomely, he isn’t paid a ton for a QB2 TBH.

Bingo you can’t smell a quality backup QB for under 5 mill a year. Schaub ain’t going anywhere. I think next year we draft a QB in the 4th round or later to try and take Schaubs place. JMO

We can add an extra 4.5 million pretty easily by cutting Hill & Schaub (not really in favor of cutting Schaub).  That would leave us 12.5 million and if we sign Griffen to a 3 year contract we could easily afford him and Curry.  Fowler is only a 6 mill CAP it this year so we could get Griffen for less year 1 on a multi yr deal

I would expect the market for Griffen to be more than the market for Curry.   Falcons would bargain shop between those two if they were even considering - which I still doubt.    Also, Griffen a little cra-cra and we already have one cra-cra in Takk.

Just not believing Falcons would be in the Griffen market.

I really don't think we do anything with this small amount of cap. From what I remember about previous years, TD typically likes to hold onto a little chunk of change as injury insurance, which is definitely a prudent thing to do. I would be really surprised if we could sign someone productive like Griffen with this small amount.

Ill be the only one but ill say NOBODY BABY. Lets develop the talent we have.

I’m with you.

Only thing that changes this is if we add a vet presence on the backend and even then I feel we have enough back there not to warrant it.

I think now we have enough experience across the board not to warrant such a move.We don’t need too many chefs in the kitchen but we do need the chefs minions ie the guys in those years 2,3 and 4 to develop into pieces that improve the recipe.
