For a 7th rounder... why not. We will have a 7th round compensatory pick anyway. I dont think this is a bad move at all.

3.5 sacks in three seasons, albeit with a terrible team. Depth pick - hopefully we didn't give up more than a seventh or sixth at the most!

When was the last time we had an impactful player like that both in the locker room and on the field on that side of the ball. His cost was worth it. Falcons are sorely missing a leader.

We don't have that to spend. We literally used everything we had available to get Harris. Any big signings or trades would require pushing even more money from a big player to next year, even after June

There's 10 mil coming in a month. I wouldn't say we have no cap room. There's always room.

Jason Butt from the Athletic said most of that will be used to sign rookies and some likely held back for injuries(to replace player with a signing), etc.

It feels like a terrible strategy now of just collecting failed 1st round picks.

Seems everyone that TD likes in pre-draft process from previous years that flop and become available- we pickup this year.   The bigger the flop the better. :flush:

All flopped first round picks like not picking up the fifth year option on our first round picks... this is ridiculous.

Thought Miami takes that since they traded him? Trades act the same as cuts so they should be on the hook for the guranteed.

Under the rookie wage scale, his contract is fully guaranteed, which includes his salary. If there was a signing bonus left, they would keep it, but we would take on the salary. There is no signing bonus left, so they take nothing, and the salary is still fully guaranteed even after being traded.

He liked Vic Beasley. That tells me all I need to know. Next!

Well in fairness, that quote was from 3 years ago... when Beasley had just gotten 15.5 sacks in his second season.

It was also one of those dumb situations where a beat writer asks a draft prospect about the team they cover & the prospect tries to name drop the coach & a player or two from the team... usually at their own position... so just in case that team drafts them, the fans aren't all butthurt that the guy doesn't respect the team.

Basically, since those guys don't really have a clue where they're gonna end up, they gotta talk about how great EVERY team is, and given the timing of when Vaughan asked Harris the question, it makes perfect sense he would mention Beasley.

Watched this guy since he was drafted.  It's not hating at all when you look at his production.  It's not satisfying to champion mediocrity..he is the definition of it.  Mix he and Takk in a blender and you get a hybrid patty cake player.

That said..a 7th...it's ok.  I like the guy...just not his production.

Here’s the problem: His salary of $1.9 million is fully guaranteed. He’s had 3.5 sacks in 41 career games. You could get that from a practice squad player for less than a third of that money. So unless DQ thinks he alone has the special sauce to turn Charles Harris has emphatically showed he ain’t, this is waste of money, waste of a draft pick (even a conditional one), and a waste of a roster spot. Dolphins probably can’t believe they found someone to take the guy off their hands.

No salary is guaranteed after it’s been traded, that’s salary cap 101

Maybe all he needs is a change of scenery...happens all the time

We have to hope. I mean, it happens when people leave ATL, why not when they get here? Let's hope this kid looks like 91 at Mizzou not the dumpster fire from MIA
