There were a lot of mistakes in that game.  We couldn't convert 3rd down to save our lives.  We got a couple turnovers at opportune moments that made it look more lopsided than it was early.

Still, had we started milking clock middle of the 3rd, they would have had a hard time coming back.  We were making them take long drives.  But we chose to stay aggressive and that's fine.

When it wasn't fine was with 4 minutes in the game and inside field goal range.  Run 3 times and kick a field goal.  There is no excuse for anything else there.  You take the win.  Up 11 points with 3 minutes left and them w no timeouts and it's game over.

This is the part that makes even people  who adamantly don't believe the game was fixed, scratch their heads: against Green Bay in the NFC Championship game,  Shanahan gave a clinic on how to milk out the clock and win the game.  He did his usual aggressive playcalling to get the big lead, then milked it. In the Superbowl, he gave a clinic on what NOT to do with a big lead...:(

The thing is the first score was after Debos force fumble which puts us at about NE 40. I believe Free ran for about 20 + yards in two plays and Julio caught a maybe 15 yard toe touch on that drive. It lasted like 1:45 min. The next score to Hooper took about 3 or 4 plays and lasted about that same time. Everything after that were 3 and outs except the drive where Coleman scored.

Yeppp .. rigged rigged rigged . Soon as people accept the fact the game we love is just that the better . It was like a good movie . Not for us but you understand my sentiment . If you wanna see the hero battle back with all the stars aligning For him to do it that was it .

I don't have to watch it again, I still remember it all. Almost every little detail, it's all played over in my head so many times since that night. I remember everything, including how Jake Matthews hold should've been canceled out by Sanu's facemask getting pulled right in front of a ref on the sideline who gladly ignored it :argh:

Football 101 is you run the ball to shorten the game. It doesn't  matter how they did it or how fast the Falcons got the big lead,  at that point you smash mouth the Patriots and shorten the game. Shanahan called the second half as if he was on the Patriots coaching staff and not the Falcons...

Which is why I don't get worked up on what the Falcons will or will not to. I'll talk about it but don't  really care because I don't look at the NFL the same after that Superbowl...

I was going to make this post last week but it slipped my mind. The Nfl's Youtube page posted it and I watched it for the first time since that dreadful day. And I watched it all the way through and rewinded quite a bit. From what I took from it was that our offense was way too explosive. The times we did score or get to mid field, we did in about 4 or 5 plays at an average of 2 minutes. We had one drive if i can remember correctly which was longer than 4 minutes the entire game.  We had a total of 4 minutes of offense in the entire 2nd Quarter. Where as NE had like two drives that were 6 minutes long and one that was longer than 4 almost 5 minutes long. Our defense was getting gassed and to make matters worse after only having 4 minutes in the 2nd quarter offensively, we get the ball the beginning of the 3rd and go 3 and out. :bang:  Putting the defense back out there. I went on profootball reference and looked at the snap counts. This is off the stop of my head but Deion Jones and Keanu Neal played a total of 99 snaps. Donte Hightower and Devin McCourtey played about 35 snaps. NE defense was fresh ASF all game long and it showed later in the game where they were blitzing like crazy hitting Matt Ryan. Then Coleman and Schraeder got hurt, there goes the blocking. We should have ran the ball wayyyyyy more and took control of the clock.

Our offense was explosive in the 2nd quarter.  That’s pretty much it.  We scored a total of 7 points in the 1st, 3rd and 4th quarter combined.  In the 2nd half we punted 4 times, fumbled once and scored a TD

Our non scoring drives in 2nd Half:

- 3 plays, 4 yards and 1:50 TOP

- 3 plays, -15 yards and 2:15 TOP

- 3 plays, -2 yards and 1:30 TOP

- 6 plays, 45 yards and 2:45 TOP

- 4 plays, 16 yards and 0:54 TOP

5 Drives, 19 plays and 48 total yards while taking up 9:00 minutes TOP.  That’s about as bad as you can do over 5 drives

So the Patriots had the ball for a nearly 1 and a half quarters in the second half. Thanks Shanahan...

Nope not gonna do it to myself, as somebody said earlier I see pictures of it and it pisses me off. Was at AFCS stadium and watched the Falcons lose to the Cowboys in the 1980 playoffs didn't rewatch that till 2012 and it pissed me off all over again, Don't need the aggravation especially now LOL I did watch the 1978 playoffs against the Eagles and the 1991 playoffs against the Saints

NE defense was hot and ready to get on the field, our offense did not get hot enough. Both the scoring drives we had in the 2nd quarter offensively, they were 5 plays each, 71 yards in 1:53 & 62 yards in 1:49 TOP. Mine you that 2nd score to Hooper was 10 minutes into the quarter. Our offense didnt get the ball back until there was 2 seconds left. We got a Pick 6 but that didnt help the defense any because they went right back on the field lls.

TOP was 40:31 to 23:27. I remember watching it live and at halftime they showed it and it was like 18:00 to 8:00, it was weird but hey we were up 21-3 so I said f**k it
