Kendall Sheffield putting in work

Recommended Posts

This is the guy I’ve been most excited about!! I know he didn’t grade out the best last year, but just watching him I felt like he was a player. Tons of potential.. even in the Seahawks game when he had those two deep balls caught on him.. he was right there in Tyler Locket’s pocket. It seemed like more of the perfect throw/ball placement rather than him getting “burnt.”

Think he takes a huge step this year!

Call it a hunch, but I truly believe our FA spending has come to an end.

With only 3 bodies at CB we are definitely bringing in more guys no matter how high we are on Sheffield.

The kid will be a player though. I had nothing against him down the stretch, I loved how physical he was despite being considered a smaller, speed guy.

Taking the top CB from OSU is like a guaranteed win lately. Last 4 CB1s drafted (or to be drafted)

Pretty much if you need DE, LB or Secondary, go OSU...

Michael Thomas. The Bosa’s, Ward, Jenkins, Sheffield, Okudah,  Lattimore, Shazier, Hayward, Curtis Samuel, Zeke, Vonn Bell, Gearon Conley, Roby, Lee, Malik Hooker etc....

As a PSU guy it is frustrating to see how much talent they recruit every year. Even a local kid who was a top national WR recruit (Julian Fleming) chose OSU over PSU despite being a lifelong PSU fan. He says he did it because being a top WR at OSU gets you drafted round 1. Same can’t be said for Penn State with talent such as Goodwin going round 3, KJ Hamler likely round 2-3, etc.

speaking of Hamler, kid is gonna be real good. He is a clone of DeSean Jackson in all phases of the game. (Homer hat off now :tiphat: )

Damon Arnette anybody

I like him in round 2. Has upside for sure. Historically the CB2 at OSU hasn’t fared as well in NFL, though you can’t base your pick off that.

Even add in Malcolm Jenkins n Chris Gamble. O State puts out high quality consistently.

I hope we bring BWW back for boundary CB depth; since only KSheff and IO will be available weeks 1-4; due to Miller’s suspension and having not see him play defense last year as a rookie.

Still likely we grab a CB somewhere in round 1 or 2, IMO.

Sheffield showed he could play future Nickel for us at minimum or allows us to bench Oliver if he regresses for some reason.

Both ramped up their play when Morris took over DBs. I think releasing Tru was about their confidence in the draft and also with Whitt added to help the secondary, so justified starting to free up cap space on his contract.

I’m also seeing Safety needs decisions by next year at latest. Upgrades are possible if Kazee doesn’t lock it down. Who knows where he and Rico play if Neal is healthy for SS.

But Sheffield was a big surprise and just needs to grow to play the ball more than the receiver. That’s where Whitt comes in.

Throw in a draft pick? Cominsky progress at all year 2? Figure out SLB in base D and the sub package group there and let’s go. Maybe add a DL through round 2 if it falls better than a LB or CB...but I’m thinking without a trade down we vastly improve CB and SLB and roll with mostly the existing DL as it is now.

Love to see it.

Looks like a Better Brian Poole. What a steal he was, I was high on him but i know many here doubted he would end up being a player and thought his man coverage skills were suspect. Now I am hoping Jordan Miller comes around.
