Those Carpenter/Brown contracts suddenly look rather OK..

Recommended Posts

Looking around at the FA signings this year for below average or straight bad OL is making TD look pretty smart for double dipping on them last year. Maybe one even ups there game to average this year.

Saints Andrus Peat - 5 yrs, 57.5M, 33M Guaranteed. Widely considered as their worst OL..

OL with lots of starting experience, regardless if they are even decent, are getting 10M/yr average..

I will not complain about Brown or Carpenters contracts ever again..

They weren’t good contracts but with so many variables and what we’ve done thus far this year they don’t seemingly have had too much effect financially.Especially when basically next year we can kick both guys to the curb and get cash back.

There is a shortage of starter and backup capable OL coming out of college based on the number needed  in the NFL.

This create a supply and demand issue driving up the price of even average level OL.

This is said about prior year contracts every new FA period. Player costs only ever go up making prior year signings look like relative bargains. Every. Year.

Exactly...You can say that about virtually every contract.

Brown and Carp's contracts are bad no matter how it's spun... Brown is possibly salvageable. Carp is pretty bad.
