ESPN article on one player from each time who deserves more appreciation:

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28872161/one-player-all-30-mlb-teams-appreciate-more-baseball-resumes

Atlanta Braves: Ozzie Albies

There's only so much air left after Ronald Acuna Jr.'s electrifying play his first two seasons, but Albies, who is entering his age-23 season, is also one of the game's top young stars. You know how many second basemen have had more extra-base hits than Albies' 164 through age 22? Zero. You know how many second basemen have had more career WAR through age 22? Two, and they're both Hall of Famers (Roberto Alomar and Eddie Collins). Acuna might be the MVP candidate, but Albies plays with a similar energy and enthusiasm that makes him one of the most exciting players in the game - and at 5-foot-8, he does it an everyman's body.

I still think Freddie Freeman is criminally underappreciated by MLB media and fans alike.

Interesting stuff in here. A few highlights:

MLB and the MLBPA "hope" to start the season by early June. I think only a 2 week delay or even starting in May is probably not going to happen now.

There is talk of playing many doubleheaders to get as close to a 162 game season as we can get. A few players have reported saying they would be fine doing that.

The playoffs may happen in November rather than October and the WS would be moved to a neutral site warmer area or a place with a dome. Hopefully not Atlanta because we will hopefully be playing in it!

I still think the season is going to happen... but early June is probably the best case scenario right now. I work in healthcare and it is about to hit the fan...

MLB and the PA are discussing a ton of stuff. One option to have a brief second Spring and then allow more pitchers on an expanded roster. Its rumored that they may not allow trades due to the shortened season. They're also talking about having teams in large outbreak zones play at their Spring facilities. Like the Mets and Yankees would play in Florida because of the widespread numbers in NY. It's going to be a very strange season once it gets rolling.

Against the advice of the CDC and WHO experts Donald Trump wants to get things as close to back to normal as possible by Easter. Of course he is rightfully so getting tons of pushback for his comments. The president of Liberty University is also under fire because he has called students and faculty back to campus and plans on resuming regular activities this week.

I'm hopeful that by the end of April we'll have a much better handle on this thing and we'll know where we stand with regards to a baseball season and other sports resuming. I'm guessing that the NBA and NHL would just go ahead and cancel what remains of their regular seasons and start their playoffs, especially given that their regular seasons would be ending in early April anyway. 10-12 games apiece for each team really wouldn't matter much in the course of an 82-game season. For teams that are just barely on the cut for the playoffs, well, sorry.

I think its possible we'll see games with no fans. Manfred said he wants baseball to be part of the healing. He mentioned playing without fans might be inevitable to get back to some normalcy in the country. He seems pretty eager for baseball to play a big role in the recovery.

It'll be weird but that empty stadium mitt popping and bat cracking would be orgasmic.
