Cole Hamels irritated his shoulder doing drills over the offseason. He will be on light duty the first 3 weeks. It's not viewed as anything serious.

Josh Tomlin signed a minor league deal with an invite today.

I hope Hamels shoulder isn't serious.

He's like 85 years old, probably sore from being 85 years old but yeah hopefully nothing serious.

We had this issue with Soroka last year I think too.

Hamels has thrown 40,000 more pitches than Soroka. This is probably precautionary, but it’s the last thing Braves fan want to see on day one.

Tomlin was solid in long-relief last season. I'm surprised he went unsigned for so long.

If Hamels can go after 3 weeks then he'll be ramping up in early March. He might miss 1 start but nothing more if it's as minor as they seem to think. The Braves have always used extreme caution during the regular season so they'll operate that way even more in February/March. Baseball is a marathon.

Anthopolous confirmed Hamels will miss the beginning of the season. No official timetable but target date is an April debut. Regular season begins in late March this year.

Yeah, but you'd be right to feel aggravated about this one. We paid $18 million to a guy with a bum shoulder. It's not even Valentine's Day, and his shoulder's sore. It's not great.

I know this is a little off topic and a ways away but who starts off our year on the board for each series?

Whoever gets it posted first when the day is close. Unless someone is on a winning streak we operate on first come first serve.

Thank you brother, but I really would like to nominate UNKNOWN to kick off the season since he basically lives in this forum. Its the right thing to do....in my opinion.

Here are the new rules

I can see the 3 batter minimum getting abused. Left handed relief specialist comes in and pitches to a left handed hitter. Then they get a fathom injury, cramps or muscle tightness. So MLB should look into implementing some kind of player safety safety net. Maybe if they leave because of injury they can’t pitch the next day.

Don’t really like the Two-way player rule. It basically allows about 10-15% of teams to have a 15th pitcher that the others can’t.  Maybe have some limitations like innings pitched or at bats that if the player reaches they lose that designation.

I feel that MLB teams should be able to crate their roster without limitations.
