I’m giddy thinking of the versatility he brings. 6’5, 220 lbs safety that runs like a deer. Coach Rambo keeps telling him to be the next Sean Taylor. Sounds good to me. Dawgs trying to build Hurticanes 2001 secondary Isaiah Simmons is the comp for James Williams, correct. Williams is a bit faster and maybe more athletic. He went to Darlington, a private school here. Same school we just got Tate from. Speaking of Bobo, that guy used to be a major party hound. When he was playing at UGA he would sometimes come to Rome to visit his sister who was at Berry College; don't think I ever once saw him where he wasn't staggering drunk, lol. I know he cleaned up his act later, luckily for him. Edited February 24, 2020 by RandomFan Wardog357, g-dawg and Americus_dawg

I'm not saying it's a bad hire, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around why it should be an exciting hire... Presumably, there are other ST specialist coaches that are out there that we could have targeted. Just not sure why we should be the proving ground for a coach that has never done the job on the field. I appreciate that he's got a ton of experience at a top program, but I do worry that ST will become a bit of an extension of the old "just beat your man" philosophy that Kirby had on offense, as opposed to actually scheming for success. We shall see I suppose.

Apparently he grew up wanting to be a coach but got "stuck" on the strength and conditioning route, and that he seemed irritated that Bama wasn't paying him enough. Told my buddy he was looking for a coaching job in the next few years. I guess the opportunity came sooner than that. VA F.O.

I'm not sure if I'm the minority but part of me would've likedo for us to hire a QB guy. That being said, I don't know enough to figure out if this is a good or meh. Just hoping we'll be good enough on offense.

Believe Buster Faulkner can help there - I know he is only an analyst and frankly I don’t know what they aren’t allowed to do - I guess they cannot touch the dirt or turf of the practice field but do all the rest? sdogg

VA F.O. 3,700
I will say, I trust Kirby, and I'm sure that if anyone knows if this guy is ready to be on field coach, it's him, and ST is at least a position that could be helped/ran by committee if he struggled or needed help at first All that being said, this makes me uneasy. It's a weird move to be sure
