Senior Bowl Day 1

Just goes to show how different opinions can be. I've seen plenty saying Willekes hurt his stock at the SB and can't imagine Gallimore not being in his top 4 IDL.

Agreed. Willekes did improve over the course of the week, as did Anae, but having them over Uche doesn’t feel right. Same with Davon Hamilton being in over Gallimore.

This draft class seems to have wildly varying opinions of prospects. More so than previous years I feel like.

3 BIGGEST STORYLINES FROM THE 2020 SENIOR BOWL

  • JUSTIN HERBERT IS GOING TOP 15

THE INTERIOR O-LINE CLASS IS NOT WHAT WE THOUGHT

Through the first half of the 2019 college football season, we were talking about players like Tyler Biadasz, Creed Humphrey and even Nick Harris as the top interior offensive linemen in the class who could contend for top-50 selections.

However this week, Biadasz doesn't look the same after having surgery, Humphrey went back to school and Harris looked a bit overpowered, at times. At the top, this class is not what we thought. But that doesn't mean it's time to write it off as weak.

Instead, Damien Lewis and Lloyd Cushenberry III from LSU have emerged as solid options, and players like Matt Hennessy and Robert Hunt could be potential guards at the next level too. The class may not be what we thought it was, but it's just that different names have now made their way to the front.

TO EVERY TEAM: DRAFT A WIDE RECEIVER THIS YEAR

I don't care if your team has a primary wide receiver need, a secondary wide receiver need or doesn't have a wide receiver sneed at all, every team in the NFL should draft a receiver from this draft class. This class is that good. I might not be ready to say it's "better" than the 2014 class, but I am comfortable saying it is the deepest class I have ever scouted.

Collin Johnson, K.J. Hill, Van Jefferson, Michael Pittman Jr. and Denzel Mims all looked like players who could instantly contribute on NFL team this year; while Tyrie Cleveland, Quartney Davis, Chase Claypool, Antonio Gandy-Golden and James Proche all looked like they had the potential to be contributors too. And those are just the names in Mobile.

From Rounds 1-7, you can find a receiver in this class. The Senior Bowl proved just how deep this class is.

Just can’t see a DB too early unless it is clear BPA. We have 2 good starting FS, a pro bowl SS (assuming he doesn’t have another freak injury), and 3 starting caliber CB in Tru, Oliver and Sheffield. The way they played 2nd half of 2019 carries into 2020, I would say there are bigger needs early (round 1-2)

we still have a starter at LB set to be UFA, hardly any DL under contract (and none that are really too exciting to re-sign), a **** show at LG, an aging Center, and a bunch of JAGs at RB, and a potential hole at TE...

that said IF Delpit is seen as that good of a ballhawk FS prospect and a true game changer, go for it.

You have to err on the side of caution with Neal. Having two devastating injuries in back to back years shouldn't be taken lightly. Allen has been great at FS, but he's coming off the worst season in his career, though I'd chalk that up to the circus that was our defensive coaching. Oliver is similar, he played very well in 2018 but was iffy at best this year, again I attribute that to coaching. Not sure what you saw from Sheffield, but he graded out as the worst defender on the team that saw significant playing time.

So having said all that, I don't think we need secondary help early, but we certainly need to gran a corner or safety somewhere in rounds 3-5. Assuming we stay pat, we have 3 picks in the first 55, and I think all 3 need to go to the front 7.

Kindle Vildor impressed a lot of scouts in practice, then had an interception and broken up TD pass in the Senior Bowl. He was on PFF's top 100 players coming into the 2019 season, and played great against Minnesota and Clemson. Would love to see us bring him in in the 5th or 6th round if still available. Then again, I'm pretty biased towards him.
