I will say with how good Kyle is he kinda has the right to be smug. I remember the 9ers LTA giving an interview and he talked about how he was on the sidelines with Shanny and they motioned Kittle over and Kyle said "touchdown" before it was even snapped and walked away, buddy didnt even watch the play and sure enough it was a TD to Kittle. Edit: I'd be a smug little **** too Yeah, he's a genius for sure but he's a little too smart for his own good sometimes and as we know it cost us so he'll always have heat with a large majority of our fans I think. Even when I think I'm past it I think about the simple things we had to do to finish that game out and it infuriates me all over again lol. Sometimes he needs to "K.I.S.S.". Keep it simple, stupid. He certainly earned a lot of the hate he got in his first year and losing the Superbowl the way we did combined with how personality was always going to leave a bitter taste in most mouths. Sark didn't deserve the hate he got, neither does Koetter. Do you think Bill b is likeable?

Something funny about this board to me (not you at all, since you aren't saying this, but generally) is how everyone expects the coach who got arrogant and called 4 shotgun plays in a row in field goal range is now the guy who is going to win it all and totally not do that ever again. The HC who hired him, got us there in his 2nd season, and came real close to getting us back the next season? No, that guy will never learn. He's hopeless. He's a lost cause. You do realize he lost to us this season the exact same way he lost the superbowl against the Pats right? Shanny was the greatest thing thats happened to this team and we’ve been garbage without him. KS was a nobody until he got here. Check out his OC resume. His offense ranked 17, 10, 25, 26, 4, 23, and 27 in points before he got here. 5 out of 7 seasons his offense were at the bottom half of the league. Not a lot of people liked the hire when he was hired. His first season here the offense was #21 in points. In SF his first 2 season the offense were #20 and #21 in points. So in 12 seasons his offense had 8 season in the bottom half and 4 in the top half. Gee-Q
Ego.. it all comes down to his ego. He wanted to get one more TD at the end there. ****.. you didn't even have to run the ball. Literally 3 kneeldowns and a 40 yard FG wins the game. Yes, I blame him.. I blame DQ.. and I blame Ryan for those last 4 minutes... To **** with all of them when referring to Superbowl. Hashbrown3
Sounds like Shanny moved on with his life. He admitted that it haunted him & that he was very hard on himself. Some fans here could do well by doing the same. But unfortunately they’ll remain small minded & continue to call him names. That speaks volumes about their maturity level & only makes them look foolish. We must get past that SB loss if we’re going to move forward. I know what went into that game and all the stuff that happened, so that stuff didn't bother me. You've got to deal with that and listen to other people, but it was nice to be able to move on and move out here and just keep working. I'm glad I'm going to get the chance to go back." Niners_D
Hey, Niner fan since the old NFC West days when we were rivals, and I've been lurking this board since we hired Shanny a few years ago to gain perspective from a fan base who has ridden the ride with him all the way to the top. My biggest fear this year on the Niners early string of wins was wondering how Shanny would deal with success, or more importantly protect a lead. Well, there were two games this year that Shanny passed with the lead instead of running, one ended with a too-close-for-comfort win, and the other was the overtime loss vs. Seattle at home. With time running out in OT, 1:50 left on the clock, three consecutive pass plays were called, so by the time the punt came, there was still 1:33 left. If he would have run the ball even once, say on second down, it is very unlikely Seattle wins that game due to time on the clock and worst case, it would have been a tie. At that point many of us began to worry that he hadn't learned his lessons at all, that it could happen when it mattered most. The fears were alleviated during the playoffs when he stuck with the run game religiously vs. the Vikings and vs. the Packers, the latter being the bigger relief as he stuck with the run even when Rodgers slung some TDs in the second half. In response to the initial interview, I'm pretty positive he wasn't being completely forthright. He said this yesterday: “I freaked out at Saleh when he tried to take the starters out in Green Bay, or was it Minnesota?” Shanahan said Tuesday. “Yeah, it was Minnesota when we were up like three scores with two minutes to go and I freaked out. “And then I did the math and I thought it was alright, but you get some scars from that stuff.” Clearly its still deep in psyche and I'm glad he's learned his lesson. Niners_D
BTW, I'm a season ticket holder and was at the Atlanta game in Levis this year. That comeback was painful to watch, but your team clearly wanted it and played a great game. They deserve full credit for that win. Also, I came to realize this year what you all talk about regarding the Saints fans. Aside from maybe Seattle, those guys are the most obnoxious, delusional fans out there. papachaz, ATLFalcons11 and ATL58
ATL58
The Super Bowl was not Shanny’s fault. Quinn is the head coach and had the authority to disconnect Shanny’s headset and take over after Julio’s catch, but he didn’t. It’s Quinn’s fault because he allowed this to happen and did nothing to stop it.
