You keep him if you promote him to HC

What kind of look does that set for the franchise? You don't fire a coach that just went to the super bowl?

Took the words right off my fingers. I’m starting to hope San Fran gets blown out in the SB so these threads completely die

Like I said it would of been tough but I think we can all agree that Shanny was the Coach that made the 2016 Falcons special. Not Quinn. I don’t know what the right move was but I think the question should at least be asked especially given everything we know

I know it would have been tough but you find a way to keep your most talented minds no matter what. Shanny’s back in the Super Bowl and we have Sherman a former Quinn player in Seattle calling Shanny the greatest football mind he’s ever met.

Of course, hindsight is always 20/20.  But when Shanahan was offered the HCing job at a "storied" franchise like SF, I don't think he!! or high water could have kept him here....even if we had fired Quinn and offered Shanny the job!!!

It's a moot point now, anyway, so, all we can do is move on ---

See that’s not true either without Quinn Shanny isn’t here.Quinn at least had the nouse to hire the mentioned.

Your judgement is clouded.

You remember Shannys record 1st year as a HC ? He’s taken his lumps on the way trust me.

Would you be saying the same thing in 17 when we are going to the playoffs and Shannys 9ers are 4-12?

Everybody hated Shanahan after SB 51 so no it wouldn't have worked. He may blow it again against KC we don't know yet.

No you just cant .   im sorry when Julio Jones caught that sideline catch to win the SB and the Falcons were in FG range and then you decide to go in a shotgun  pass instead of rush the ball 3 times your not getting a promotion.

People keep putting it all on Shanahan's shoulders without accounting for the holding penalty that forced us into passing. Oh, and before you say the hold only happened because it was a passing play we don't know that. Holding gets called on runs just as much if not more than it does on passing plays.

The penalty stopped the clock and kept the Patriots from having to use a timeout. It also put the Falcons outside of FG range which then meant the Falcons were forced to pass the next play which was incomplete which led to another play where the Patriots didn't have to use a timeout. So instead of making them use all their timeouts they were only forced to use 1 and got the ball back with 2 left.

As I recall, Shanahan wasn't the most popular person on this board after that game. And, you can't stop someone from leaving to be  head coach

Think the real mistake was letting LeFleur walk. Should have hired a grizzled vet for QB coach to  balance his lack of experience and  promoted LeFleur to OC

You’re not going to keep a man that’s offered a HC job unless his last name is McDaniels. He’s gone. You guys gotta move on.

I love how there are people here who suggest that Blank should have fired Quinn after the SB loss and hired Shanahan as HC. That is the most stupid, hindsight ridden suggestion I’ve ever heard honestly. What owner would do that????
