ramonezy
Is it just me, or is there a legitimate hype issue surrounding each year's draft and the prospects slated to enter? Especially for 1st round defensive prospects expected to be selected outside of the top 5... I can't buy into any of it... they simply seem to give poorer returns than their offensive counterparts... Yet still we share highlight vids touting them as "the one" So yeah I hear when everyone says our greatest need is edge, but I don't buy AJ Epenesa or any of the other edges not named Chase Young being hyped beyond what we have/had already. I don't buy Delpit or any of the slew of CBs being touted as shutdown corners. I can see us getting more value out of an Ettienne than an Epenesa or Delpit... Just like we did with Ridley vs Neal/Takk/Beasley

Pacific_Falcon
Polamalu, Sanders, and Ronnie Lott probably don't see it that way. And that's just guys off the top of my head and are all defensive backs. TheFatboi

kiwifalcon
Busts so is this after one season or does a 1st rounder have to be already developed into the player the MEDIA HYPES them up to be. Tough gig this NFL. Cole World and papachaz
1989Fan
Defenders outside of top 5 are busts, yet we should take a round 2-3 RB at 16...gotcha. maybe you should have taken the time you used to make this thread and used it to research the top defensive players and where they were drafted. These ‘convince my stubborn ***’ threads are a waste of keystrokes...yet my dumb *** replies lol. Cole World and papachaz

takeitdown
I don't have it on me, but I'm sure someone could look at pro bowl rate for defenders between 5-32 in the draft vs offensive players. Then we wouldn't just be talking. But yeah, people like Reed, Lewis, weren't early picks. More recently Vander Esch, Lattimore, TJ Watt came in that range. And last year, Josh Allen, Ed Oliver, Devin Bush, Brian Burns came outside the top 5 and are already on good footing.
kschreck
"Always" lol, why spend time convincing someone that their erroneous absolute statement is wrong? If you were concerned with facts I suspect you would have done your own research. ShmevinShmarris, rugger8 and ATLSlobberKnockers

TalentedMrRidley
Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, D Ware, Revis, Champ Bailey, JJ Watt, Aaron Donald, Urlacher, Freeney, Sapp, D Brooks, Polamalu, Earl Thomas, and Ty Law. There are also guys like Cam Jordan, Suggs, and Kuechly that have had exceptional careers. Those are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head apl2g, Knight of God and Bigbenright

Tribal Chief
You have a better chance at only trying to make a case for top 10 defensive draftees. Outside of the top 10 I gotta say you’re telling a dam lie. No one can change your mind but yourself. You got a lot of research to do.
