Lol it's all confusing. A mixture of Carpenter and possibly Brown if Schweitzer becomes the new C and Gono gets the swing OT/G role it’s about all I got . This is all dependent on what our run scheme looks like.Imagine if they off load Mack and Free and go to a power gap type blocking scheme and Ito becomes the scat back and we ride Ollison and Hill who knows. They are unique players in that they are passing threats even when in blocking looks. Yet, look at the Saints. They traded Graham for Unger and haven't missed him. As for the others, try to restructure Trufant and Freeman. Bring back Clayborn, Davison, Means, BWW, and Smith. Let the rest walk. Cut Bailey, Schaub, Stocker, Sambrailo, and Carpenter. Restructure Mack by adding a year to his deal and moving some of that cap hit out. Sign a LB and some DL. Chase Graham Glasgow HARD. Draft the best defensive players with your first three picks. No reason to restructure Freeman when he's ineffective. Time to move on. papachaz and PokerSteve

We'll be in a world of hurt if we replace Mack with Schweitzer. Wes is only good in spurts, like Garland was. Dude will get severely exposed as a full time starter. He has more value as a 3rd down rb for this year than his 3.5 mil in savings we'd get. If we can find a trade partner then ok. Outright cutting him would be counter productive for this year tho falconsd56 and wuskillzz

For me Schweitzer is the logical replacement for Mack.Hes started on either side of him for the last 3 years. If anyone’s on the roster is taking Mack’s spot it’s him. papachaz

For the Falcons to make a deep run in the playoffs or make it to the SB and keep the fan base behind the FO. It is going to take a miracle to juggle our cap restraints, keep the RIGHT players, have an almost perfect draft, acquire the right F A's with the lack of spending money, coupled with signing and putting the right position Coaches where we can get the most out of our roster. TD and the FO have their work cut out for them!!!! But miracles can happen and I hope one happens with the Falcons. It is a new year. 2020-it is on! I concur on all accounts. Admit I’m skeptical as we’ve proven to be suspect evaluators of talent in many cases but hoping for miracle. If not, AB will have to be dealing early pink slips or he’ll lose what little fan base is clinging on.

FalconFanSince1970
Cut Neal, Bailey, Sombrero, Free, Allen, Stocker, Schaub, Ito, Carter, Thomas, Harlow, Powell, Senat and Carpenter. Frees up $30.2M, gets us to $41.6 under and opens some roster spots that can be upgraded. Let Beasley, Clayborn, Means, Crawford, Bennett, Hardy, Taylor, Wilcox, Cyprien, Ishmael, Neasman, Wetzel, Schweitzer, Harlow and Bosher walk. Re-sign Hoop, Campbell, Davison, Hill, Blidi, Barner, Smith, Allen and Koo for $21.4M which brings us back down to $20.2M. Sign, Yannick Ngakoue, Anthony Harris with $13.3M in year one of back loaded deals. Leaves $6.9M for the draft. Fill the last twelve spots with draft picks, UDFAs or maybe a couple $500K FAs that won't hit the cap. Seven of em won't be active on game day anyway. Might have to restructure Bloodline and push a couple mil to make it all fit. Roll with something like this in 2020: QB – Matt Ryan, Kurt Benkert WR – Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Olamide Zaccheus, Christian Blake RB – Brian Hill, Qadree Ollison, Kenjon Barner, Keith Smith, DRAFT TE – Austin Hooper, Jaden Graham, Alex Gray OC – Alex Mack, DRAFT OG – Joe Thuney, Chris Lindstrom, Matt Gono, Jamon Brown OT – Jake Matthews, Kaleb McGary, DRAFT, UDFA DE – Yannick Ngakoue, Takkarist McKinley, John Cominsky, Austin Larkin, DRAFT DT – Grady Jarrett, Tyeler Davison, Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, DRAFT LB – Deion Jones, De’Vondre Campbell, Foyesade Oluokun, DRAFT, UDFA, UDFA CB – Desmond Trufant, Isaiah Oliver, Kendall Sheffield, Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Jordan Miller FS – Damontae Kazee, DRAFT SS – Anthony Harris, UDFA, UDFA K – Younghoe Koo P – Ryan Neal LS – Josh Harris PokerSteve

vafalconfan
G James Carpenter: The Falcons won’t save much money by releasing Carpenter, who ended the season on injured reserve due to concussions. But if the Falcons think there’s a better option at a value in free agency, they could go in that direction. G Jamon Brown: There isn’t much financial flexibility to get out of Brown’s contract if the Falcons feel inclined to do so. If they want to go that route, trading Brown would be the solution. We have a lot of bad contracts, but these two take the cake. Why would we sign them to team unfriendly /almost guaranteed contracts?.. Was TD bidding against himself? They both sucked and we're stuck with them for 2020. PokerSteve and Francis York Morgan

falconidae
If they're cutting Carpenter, they'll do it soon. He has a 1 mil bonus and 1.25 mil of salary that becomes guaranteed if he's on the roster 3rd day of the 2020 season. If I'm reading Google correctly, that'd be March 20 or 21 2020. If the new CBA is signed soon, changes some of the numbers.
