After the Vikings’ 26-20 victory over the Saints on Sunday afternoon, defensive end Danielle Hunter credited the Falcons for showing Minnesota how to slow down New Orleans’ high-powered offense. Hunter said the Vikings chose to attack the interior of the Saints’ offensive line after watching film of Atlanta, per Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune: Andrew Krammer@Andrew_Krammer #Vikings watched how Falcons slowed Drew Brees and Saints, according to Danielle Hunter, and they decided to attack interior OL because of strength of both Saints tackles. 1,332 5:11 PM - Jan 5, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 421 people are talking about this The Falcons won six of their final eight games, but it all began with the team’s 26-9 Week 10 victory over the Saints. While Atlanta’s success was too little, too late for the 2019 season, the drastic second-half turnaround was what ultimately saved the jobs of head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff. The Don™
Ive said it multiple times this season and during playoff thread today, Saints are very beatable if Brees has some pressure in his face. He can't handle it like he did before. Sack Brees a couple times and he'll fold. arrogantBEAST, Emmitt, NCFalconfan and 1 other

Does Pete Carroll suck since he doesn't call plays? Bill Belichik? Pretty much every defensive HC? Please. Yep. People are missing these details. Guess who could work more with the DL after they made official moves on playcalling distribution being changed? ^DQ still had influence on the turnaround on D. It’s all about proper resource allocation. Quinn managing his staff amidst coordinator moves has been one of his biggest offseason/off field shortcomings as a head coach. Gotta hope the player overturn won’t stop it from becoming a consistently good unit next year and moving forward. ^That’s part of the plan sticking with Quinn. He can certainly lead a team. We do great on the road and in the division. What we need is restoring HFA somehow and that’s by balling out. Truth is if you win the people will come out, but ya PSLs etc don’t help when it’s 1-7 bad. Oh, and we don’t discuss the AFC... All of that said, it’s either glass half full or half empty. I have way less faith in Dirk getting it all together but fine...may as well see year 2. If they get a run game and a defense? I’m confident this team can make playoffs. PapaJoe
Pressure up the middle has been the way to unsettle Brees for his entire time in N.O. The Saints entire offensive scheme is predicated on the OTs taking outside rushers deep on the arc while the IOL hold ground/redirect laterally in order to give Brees the ability to step up or to leak out laterally into a throwing lane. Saints perfected it a LONG time ago. Every time a team brings the heat in the middle with some reasonable success the Saints struggle. It ain't a "new thing." roguebeaver, Drunken Minotaur Zebra, Nino11 and 1 other

DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
When I saw this yesterday, I was a little disappointed they didnt discuss the contributions on the offensive side of the ball as well. I don't think its a coincidence that the Saints' rush defense (5th in rush defense DVOA) struggled with teams running more "Shanahan" concepts....a weakness that was exploited by this staff in our win over the Saints earlier this year. The Vikings made an awful lot of profit on those concepts yesterday.

I haven’t seen our run game broken down week to week this year, but this is the type of thing I’d like to be able to see distinguished by number of times we ran more outside zone, inside zone, or man/power runs. Interesting thought about them getting worked on the ground. I don’t think the Vikings win without their offense neutralizing the Saints pass rush and winning the war of attrition. They didn’t have to rely on Kirk airing it out for a good portion of the game. PokerSteve
