Last Year the winning team in wildcard weekend scored 21, 24, 23 & 16. Divisional Round winning teams scored 31, 30, 41, 20. Wild card weekend sits the four best teams, so scoring is going to be lower because the quality of teams is lower. The four teams that sat this year are 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th in offensive DVOA. Scoring will be higher this week. Ergo Proxy

I think people could take your post as an absolute instead of saying “this is the trend” and the “reasons behind it.” Therefore, we can “expect” the spike in scoring but doesn’t necessarily mean it happens for sure. Just chances and dynamics at work. Conditions on game day could limit some scoring; e.g. in blizzard games. What I’m curious about is whether complete showings come out for teams like Niners and Ravens. Tough games for visiting teams. Chiefs probably advance. Packers Seahawks will be interesting if Russell can overcome Packers D...and conversely if LaFleur can spark Shanny ball against Seattle D... It’s the first time a lot of people have watched these teams play all year and especially in years where we don’t have a horse in the race. This weekend will balance things out and all will be normal again.
