Ok I want to throw out a wild theory that’s I’m 99% sure wouldn’t happen. Since Evans is no longer an EE like planned and hasn’t ever taken an official visit, could we have asked him to blueshirt? We all know Kirby is the numbers wizard. What if that’s the ultimate stipulation to prove he can put the team ahead of himself.

It’s not a given that Evans isn’t an EE.. We should know something one way or the other this weekend or early next week based on what I’ve heard

Kirby and the staff wanted Evans to be an EE because they want him out of that toxic situation and that was part of some of the stipulations. I hadn’t heard that rumor but if that’s true then his HS coach is a vengeful guy. That’s just wrong in every way

Yeah if that's the case, shame on the coach/coaches. They should want him to leave if he's that bad and they should also want the best opportunity for the kid regardless. I would have a very hard time understanding that mindset if true. Let him go, hopefully he'll get in a better situation, paired with the right role models and at least give the kid a chance.

i agree with cookie on 247.. i believe zach publicly commits to UGA and is on campus next week.

that would be awesome.....if Zach gets to Athens and thrives in the structure of UGA program - he could have an unbelievably great turnaround story in a few years - that could even further help the UGA program.

That would be awesome! As a parent, that would make a tremendous impression on me.

agreed.  Even moreso if you are perhaps a single-parent household and a kid in a bad environment - if you had a great story of Zach Evans being helped and he comes out the other end in great shape - wow, that would be something.

Now, of course there are tons of kids like this in every program that get this done - but Zach's issues are so much more public than most - the story will be easier to tell because of all the press coverage.

Regardless, hope the kid gets his life turned in a positive direction and figures out a way to get the drama out of his life.

Coley better make full use of this kid.

He’s not nearly the athlete LeBron is (a lot of people don’t realize how incredibly athletic guys like that are in the NBA), but his athleticism shouldn’t be slept on and you just can’t teach the size he has. He’s a mismatch nightmare.

Some recruiting violations;

In response to the NCAA violations, Georgia paid the $10,000 fine and reduced official visits by four during the current recruiting cycle, took away three weeks of unofficial visits, reduced its evaluation days by nine for the spring of 2020, reduced evaluation days by three during fall 2019 and stopped recruiting the athletes involved. Georgia also agreed not to recruit any prospects at one of the high schools involved for two years.

No one questions Evans' talent. The question is, is it worth it?

A follow up question being, if Evans transfers and/or flops for numerous possible reasons, but Tank stays and contributes above average play for 3-4 years, who was the better choice?

Now I know there's no way we can know these things or predict the future, but just as there is a large talent gap between the two, there is also just as large of a gap in red flags.

Here's to hoping it works out for both us and him
