Monolith2001
May not be accurate in terms of who we can keep and cut but here's my stab at it. Free Agents Position Retain Option Reason Vic Beasley DL/LB Maybe Draft/FA For the right price Jack Crawford DL No Draft Avg…prefer youth Matt Bosher P No Ryan Allen Too much for same or less Adrian Clayborn DL Maybe Draft/FA/UDFA For the right price, mauler. Kemal Ishmael LB/SS No UDFA SS days are gone and just an avg LB. J.J. Wilcox SS Maybe UDFA For the right price Steven Means DL Yes Cheap and motivated Kenjon Barner ST/ RB Yes Wanted him gone, but now really want this guy back. Tyeler Davison DL Maybe Senat Better than Senat but not that much imo Justin Hardy WR No UDFA Like him but not much a factor on O or ST Blidi Wreh-Wilson DB Yes Played well, looks like CB2 or CB3 Keith Smith FB Maybe Ollison Keep for right price but would like to see QO be our FB. John Cyprien SS No UDFA No real info Ryan Allen P Maybe UDFA Want to retain but need competition Austin Hooper TE Yes Pay this man (or tag him) De'Vondre Campbell LB Yes Pretty good when he knows the plan Sharrod Neasman SS Maybe UDFA Compete for spot Wes Schweitzer OL Maybe Draft/UDFA Nice utility piece but limited at all spots Matt Simms QB No Benkert/Etling Seen enough Rashede Hageman DL No UDFA Ship sailed on this one (didn't realize was still on roster) High Salary (1M+) Cutables (lose a little money but save cap) Matt Schaub QB No Benket/Etling Good years but time to get younger (make him a coach) Luke Stocker TE No Graham/Draft/FA/UDFA Major disappointment tbh Ty Sambarillo OT Compete Draft/FA/UDFA Nice TD but need someone who can block more Allen Bailey DL Compete Draft/FA/UDFA Not amazing but good enough to re-eval Post June 1 (if it atually still existed, saves cap if cut Jun 1 otherwise expensive) Ricardo Allen S Yes Rico does his job and has looked good at both S positions Devonta Freeman RB No UDFA/Draft Love the guy but too much money for what he is Alex Mack C Yes Best of a bad line. Quoting AB "Continuity!" James Carpenter OG No Draft Average at best when he can stay on field
jwickha2
Personally I would bring back both because neither should break the bank.. But since the Falcons already have several big outside-inside guys, like Takk, Cominsky and Tuioti-Mariner, I would take Irvin for his different skill set. And as of right now Allen Bailey is also signed for next year, even though I think he should be cut. Francis York Morgan

I have no idea what Bruce Irvin wants to do or if he'd be any more impactful than he was when he was here.

I've been impressed with what ive seen from Tuioti-Mariner so far

What I do know is Irvin made a bigger contribution for the Panthers than Clayborn made for the Falcons this past season so that makes the decision easy. Only doorstopper would be the contract. In the end everyone will want the cheaper player

Clay is a DE/DT whereas Irvin was mostly a LB in Carolina's scheme this season as a blitzer so comparing the two is a little off. I have no issue with Irvin but I'd rather keep Campbell and ride youth if we're going to look for that kind of player.
1989Fan
I would bring Clay if the two. More versatile. now if they see Irvin as cheap replacement for Some of Beasleys snaps Also, okay. wouldnt pay either more than $3-4M though. He looked lost at beginning of the season but dude was grown man in the back half and someone will pay good money for it but I think that Campbell needs to be in a simple system where he can just run and hit.
