  1. 1. Are You Keeping Morris or Ulbrich

    • Ulbrich
    • Morris
    • Neither, fire them both & Quinn too

There has been some good discussion on whether or not Quinn stays in 2020.  Another topic of discussion is Morris & Ulbrich.  Morris has a great resume on both sides of the ball and should have momentum for an HC position in the offseason.  Same for Ulbrich as DC.

So here is the question: which of those two should we prioritize keeping if Quinn stays?  A month ago it was Ulbrich in a landslide; however, Morris appears to have closed the gap.  What he did last week, disguising our coverages and mixing Cover 3, Tampa 2, Cover 6 etc was genius.  So who ya keeping?

Or should be State Line Quinn & his band of lovable cohorts?

I'm keeping both if AB has to open the wallet that's on him. I seriously doubt Ulbrich is getting a lot of sniffs though unless it's for a DC position somewhere else.

In this scenerio, Quinn stays, Morris is promoted to DC leaving Ulbrich moving back to just LB’s.  He has earned a job as DC somewhere

All (Quinn+Ulbrich+Morris) or nothing from me.  But want to see how they finish out.  Bucs still roasted us with this setup, even though Jameis makes us his son on a yearly basis.

How Tampa rubbed our nose in the dirt was no fluke .  I don’t like our chances Week 17 tbh.

We are poised for a trap game too.  Emotional high win on the road vs the former OC from the SB run.  Follow up with a home game (which we discussed how poor our home record is) vs an AFC opponent.  Wouldn't be surprised if we close out the season 0-2.  Though I thought we'd smoke TB and get murdered by SF so what do I know at this point?

I think we remain focused a beat Jax soundly.   But we could play well and lose to Tampa

Falcons should Keep DQ but strip him of his roster building power. Keep Morris as assistant head coach/secondary coach. Keep Ulbrich as LB coach. Hire Kris Richard as DC.

Offensive coaching staff should be sent to the shadow realm.

If u are taking everything from your HC andddd you are changing the Offensive  side of the ball..... Why keep your HC then

You either have to be all in   on your HC or make a change

I think if we keep DQ or if we go the route of an offensive minded HC, then I suspect we keep both for continuity. Obviously if we bring in a new defensive minded HC then he'll want to bring in some of his own guys on the defensive side.

As for who the DC would be between the two should we keep them... Officially I guess Morris would be named DC, he has more experience as both a HC and DC. In terms play-calling it probably continue to be a combination of the two.

It's almost like disguising coverage helps the back end and makes the QB hold the ball a second longer, helping the pass rush. Rocket science.

It was a tremendous gameplan.  Between running 53 concepts and mixing up a ton on the back end.  Shanny admitted we confused the **** out of them

Head coaches aren’t meant to have final say on the roster or call plays. Those are added responsibilities we allowed him to have. He should just be the leader of this team and gameplan with his assistants. Obviously he’d still have a voice in the room with TD acquiring players, but not the bigger voice. No more drafting players because of their “competitive toughness score”.

Look at this snippet  about Mike Tomlin from last year.

It’s entirely possible the Steelers storm back and make the playoffs this season. If Ben Roethlisberger is “on,” this team can beat anyone. The issue is a perfect storm composed of Roethlisberger’s inconsistency, ineptitude in drafting, and developing, defensive talent, miscommunications, schematic shortcomings on both sides of the ball, and undisciplined penalties.

At some point, this all comes back to Tomlin. He’s been the constant in all of these pervasive issues for far too long.

I want to make something clear, Mike Tomlin is not a bad coach. He’s a decent coach who’s a fantastic leader of men. He gets his team to play for him when their backs are against the wall — just look at last week against the Buccaneers. In fact, I’m predicting the Steelers to win against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 simply because they’ll show up in emphatic fashion to crawl their way out of another hole.

Sound familiar.

If our play is as unbearable as some say why would we keep anyone? Get rid of everyone mascot, pets, equipment staff and start fresh

What’s odd is the defense was really only a problem for 3 weeks.  If you remove weeks 5-8, we are allowing just 330 ypg which right around top 10.
